Time for all the different games.

With so many Halo games, and my obsession with completing achievements and collecting cosmetics. How do yall do it? I find it near impossible to unlock and play all the games to my satisfaction. Like getting max level in Halo 5 or getting all the seasonal items in MCC. Now with Infinite coming out, its only going to get harder. XD Short of playing 23 hours a day… Holy moly.

It’s more of a marathon than a sprint. It took me years to get all the achievements and ranks I wanted to reach. If something is time dependent, focus on that and come back to the other goals after. I didn’t finish mcc achievements until years after H5 released, once I hit 152. I have no interest in the mcc seasons, but it’s the same principle.

Most of the rewards in Halo are completely optional to unlock and it’s never supposed that the player should be able to unlock everything. A general theme with most games is to oversaturate the number of potential tasks that the player can complete in order to keep the players interested. In Halo 5, there exist a wide variety of long term rewards like getting Achilles, SR152 or completing certain commendations. Many of these tasks where intentionally designed in a such a way that these task would be a time sink.

If you wish to reach the final rank in Halo 5, the main requirement is to play the game a lot. The main strategy should be to play something that you enjoy while still maximizing the amount of xp obtained for time played. However, you should still be prepared that it will take around 32 days of active playtime to reach the final rank (if you play Mythic Warzone Firefight w. XP Jackpot or Rare XP Boost).

When it comes to myself, I have pretty much completed all of the goals that I plan to complete before Halo Infinite gets released. This includes reaching the final rank in Halo Reach, Halo 4 and Halo 5, collecting all none LASO and none 4 player COOP PvE achievement in the FPS games and to complete nearly every PvE commendation with the exception of Perfectionist and Grounded in Halo Reach Firefight. The only major goals that remains is to reach an as high rank as possible in MCC and to unlock all of the items in MCC that can be obtained with Season Points. However, these goals aren’t that bad and will be completed sooner or later as long as continue to play the game and complete weekly/seasonal PvE challenges.

Fourteen years on Xbox live and fifteen years of Xbox gaming, I have had a lot of time to get achievements and I have 25,167 (at time of posting) and only three of them I am proud to have. I would suggest not going overboard with your obsession and just play the games for enjoyment. I found that setting goals for achievements/ games only took the joy out of gaming. Personally I found trying to achieve such feats to add stress and frustration to gaming. Lastly I would recommend not caring to achieve it all.

It’s all about deciding how you want to spend your time. A couple of years ago, I really wanted to unlock all of the MCC and Halo 5 achievements before Infinite, but now I’m going to college, and I’d rather spend my time doing extra studying and meeting new people than grinding out LASO campaigns in my room.

If you set your mind to getting max rank and getting all of the achievements, go for it. You can do it, especially with the help of Halo Completionist on YouTube. If your life outside of Halo gets in your way, that’s okay too. Ultimately, it’s more important that we immerse ourselves in the real world than a fictional universe. That’s just my take.

I agree with taking your time and trying to enjoy the right instead of rush just for the sake of getting them before a deadline. I have been aiming to get all MCC achievements and to keep from being overwhelmed, I hit the achievements one at a time and worked on them with a friend and it became a ton of fun. It’s a fun journey and don’t feel like you HAVE to do it, just do it if you genuinely find it fun.
