Is the flight build going to be tested with 60Hz tickrate only? Or, will it be tested with 120Hz/144Hz+ tickrate server?
We really don’t know yet.
it will be whatever is ready! i think anyway
Higher the better for sure. But I’d be fine if started at 60 and they tried different settings through out.
Honestly good question, would like to know this answer!
60 tick rate is usally what the bf4 servers run on, and that is a massive engine/map package, so i would 60 would jsut do fine

Just so we’re clear, 343 JUST upgraded every game except H1 to 60Hz tickrate. They did not say anything about tickrates above 60Hz so I suspect that those will NOT be included as part of the game. Plus, there really isn’t any reason for 120Hz tickrate servers. Yes, the upgrade is noticeable, but it is really only useful in LAN scenarios for highly competitive gameplay. Most likely MCC will just stop at 60 tick servers.
As for frame rate, all of the games have been upgraded to support 60 FPS, but 343 has not said anything about potentially having “unlocked” framerate in any of the games, so we will just have to wait and see on that.

Competitive CSGO clients use 128 tickrate servers and i can say it is way better than 60 tickrate servers. For the casual, i see them having no problem but for a competitive players, a shot that was supposed to hit in a game winning tournament could be determined by a rate by which the server is going at. Halo Competitive on PC would be a bigger problem as the mechanics are not going to be that great compared to other games. So there is no point upgrading the tickrate when the movements will be sluggish and slow like every other halo game on pc.
Intersting. BF4 supports up to 144 tick rate however a good majority of servers just stay on 30 anyways. Haven’t played on any 144 servers… guess they cost more & the game is dying (EA is killing it) but the 60 doesn’t really seem to make a difference to me; high pingers still get magical shots &… stuff.
I think that 343 stated that they will go to 60fps. I mean isn’t that what the halo on xbox is?
Unless it’s states otherwise in the future, I would be surprised to see a tick rate above 60Hz in the PC port. Wouldn’t that necessitate some heavy lifting in the engine to get higher rates? And given that the existing Xbox variants peak at 60, I see little motivation to put in the work for higher rates.
I don’t recall offhand, but is there going to be cross-play between the Xbox and PC servers? If so, I would say that basically answers the question. (Although I would generally bet no on this…)
EDIT: Seems that crossplay between Xbox/PC is currently unconfirmed either way at the moment.
Tickrate is not the same as frame rate or refresh rate. I think some people are confusing this. I can pretty much guarantee that no, the servers won’t be above 60hz tickrate.
