I don’t know if it was CoD or another fps awhile back, but they had an option that made accidental clicks of a thumbstick not register. I think it was like anti panic or some odd name.
I’ll be in a firefight and suddenly a melee for no reason, be it from aggressively trying to follow them, regriping the small controller to tight etc. Heck even that bodily reaction some of us do to jerk or lean into the fight causes it. Just a nice solid press, even if we can decide how long to press by split seconds somehow.
Am I the only person on the verge of winning (and yes losing) firefights only to bump melee by accident causing a delay in fire etc? Or is it just my freakily big hands? Im so set in the controller layout now that simply swapping it with a bumper or b would feel wrong too.
It’s not necessarily a holding like your jacking a vehicle, but a firmer press that naturally lasts split seconds longer then just going. Definitely not as long as it took to assassinate either.
It’s hard to describe other then it knows by the press it was intended. Halo isn’t a twitch shooter either so it having such a delicate input doesn’t make sense. Tactical slayer alone is more about keeping distance and headshots over panic stabs lol.
It’s odd because the more intense a game is getting the more it happens, its so involuntary too. Like driving in a hard gta mission or race I lean with the turn sometimes, if I need to dodge and keep my aim on point its like hands and arms are on over drive. Already have a tight grip just to comfortably hold a controller, if I try relaxing it any its giving up fine motor movements and response time to balance a controller more comfortably.
Part of the reason why I haven’t gotten an elite controller or scuf is because I feel like I’d be setting the back paddles off on accident too lol.
It’s like when you’re laying in bed and suddenly feel like you’re falling. Or watching a action movie and the fights so good your moving along with the punches for some reason.
Fall from a high place in a game? Body feels like it has to pull itself faaaar back and stay where it was but its to late lol.
I have been experiencing this issue occasionally while playing and it almost always results in me dying because I accidentally melee. I recently introduced 5 of my friends to halo who are use to playing destiny 2 PVP and COD Warzone. All 5 of them encounter this issue constantly, to the point it’s driving me insane. I’m trying to convince them to play halo more, but then this continues to happen while they play, to the point they want to throw their controllers at the wall. I seem to encounter the issue more on scoped weapons, especially the sniper rifle.
Ideally they could add some sort of sensitivity setting to help compensate for this like there are for many other parts of the gameplay.
Also maybe there could be an option to change melee to a different button. This obviously is not ideal for long time halo players who are use to the button layout but for friends like mine who are use to RB being melee in other games this would be a welcomed customization.
