Thrusting is good, I'll miss it

Just wanted to say, I felt the whole thrust thing was a dumb addition when I first started this game, but after a lot of multiplayer the past few weeks, it’s really grown on me, and I’ve played these games for 19 years.

Maybe this was added because at the time, Call of Duty was doing the exosuit/wall-run/thrust thing that eventually got a lot of backlash, but it feels like a much better fit in Halo’s sci-fi universe and generally longer times to kill.
I like being able to get a little boost around a corner to pursue someone or hit it in mid-air to correct a jump trajectory or quickly duck behind cover if my shields are low. All of these things add options to every gunfight and make the combat more dynamic … and I’m gonna miss it in Infinite which seems to be leaning more heavily into the “purist” Halo mindset of almost no mobility improvements (apparently we still have sprint, but it’s barely faster than normal running so I don’t know what that’s about).

Yeah I enjoyed sprint. H5 was the game i played the most. Nearly 96 days in hours. Thruster is sum I’ll miss. Though it’ll be an abillity in Infinite.

infinite will have thrust but like a equipment like the drop shield

I never did enjoy the thrust part of Halo 5’s loop. It always felt like you didn’t have to commit to an encounter so long as can thrust away.

There’s actually so many ways to use thrust. Its use can be mobility, close gaps, momentum shifts in the match, skill jumps…to offensive tactics like pulling off sick grenade traps, ninjas, amd some sick strafe combos.

Thrusters were in halo 4, and before halo 4 there was evade. So the actual like…movement it does isn’t entirely new I’d sa…altho in 5 its designed much differently and a base trait all Spartans share.

A huge part of me wanted to say immediately…that I’d miss this mechanic. A different part of me wants to say I’m sick of halo 5…a game I play almost everyday…that I want a new halo so had…something different…

Now infinite is around the corner. Thrusters seem to he a map equipment item…and we don’t know yet how exactly it will feel. I do like that we aren’t getting halo 5.5…I do like that we aren’t getting halo 3.5…and I do like that we are getting halo infinite. An all new halo game that seems to mesh past games all into 1…all while making it still feel fresh, different, new, and most importantly…it’s own halo game.

“Have you tried halo infinite? Which halo does it feel like?”

Man. Such a hard question to answer. It just feels like halo.

I could do without the ground pound, and the melee dash is take it or leave it, but i love the evasive dash. That paired with clamber totally opens up a battlefield, changes the whole concept of movement and navigation. Also like op said super useful in multiplayer.

The only thing I disliked about thrust is how spammable it is. It’s on a short cooldown and everyone has it all the time. It’s a cool mechanic for getting you out of a tight spot or as a gap closer but it should be something more limited in use, so that it’s a more weighty decision whether to use it or not instead of >is thruster available? >if yes use thruster. Reach has a similar problem but it’s mitigated by the choice between various armor abilities and their somewhat longer cooldowns. Which is why I’m glad they are bringing back consumable pieces of equipment in Infinite.

Yeah I think its something I will miss when I don’t have it around to help me

I am not disappointed to lose some things in halo infinite because the gamplay of halo 5 was way too unbalanced for my taste.
