Anyone else notice that Fred’s thrusters were firing as he lifted the debris off Chief in the “Hunt Begins” trailer?
It just seems odd to me. Carry on.

Linda’s were the ones I think.
*Linda
Why would it be odd? It obviously was to heavy to lift with just muscle, so thrusters were used to provided added lift.
Do you even lift bro?
My bad, Linda. Why would it be odd? Because they can all, literally, flip a multi-ton tank and didn’t need thrusters for that.
But why does a super soldier with augmented super strength need to use thrusters lol. 343 just wants to make sure we know spartan abilities are in the game. I’m surprised no one was sliding in the trailer.

I lift donuts to my mouth hole a lot, and thrusters sure would help, now that I think about it …

Adding a bit more realism? I always found it a bit odd that Chief can flip a Tank like its made out of Cartboard

That’s why there’s a hole in donuts. Aerodynamics.
Imagine the air resistance if there was no hole.

The weak point is still going to be their arms and shoulders, even if thrusters take the weight off their legs.
It’s not a big deal, and I was mainly just curious if anyone else noticed that little detail. It took me a half dozen times watching it, since it’s been released, for me to even pick it up.

Thrusters wouldn’t help if it was too heavy in the slightest.
If your arms aren’t strong enough to lift something, attaching thrusters to your body wouldn’t accomplish anything because your arms would still be the weakest point and give in.
If you locked out your arms and relied entirely on the thrusters, that would be different.

Remember when Thom used unlimited jetpack in the “Halo: Reach” trailer?
Its just theatrics. That’s all.

I guess you forget the neural interface that S-II’s have that sends signals to their MJOLNIR armor just as our brain sends signals to our muscles.
We already know that they are capable of locking up their armor as seen in the beginning if H3 & Halo: Reach.

Fair enough if it was combined with some variation on armor lock, but Linda’s elbow and shoulders flexed during this so I doubt that’s it.

No, I don’t remember that.
But you’re right, it is just theatrics. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter in the slightest.
I imagine the thrusters just help to push. When someone is stuck under derbies, super strength or not, you want to get them out as soon as possible. So the thrusters probably just help to lift even faster

If my fridge is empty I can lift it no problem. But I have a dolly, so why wouldn’t I use it?

Baha!!! Love it.

That’s not the same thing. Using thrusters attached to your back would be like having someone use a dolly on you while you’re trying to lift the fridge. The forces at play just shift around a little but, but the weak point is still the arms connected to the device.

A little bit goes a long way; every little bit helps. An external force helping you push something in the same direction you’re pushing (lifting) helps.
Think about it: Linda is using her arms, but she’s also lifting with her legs (think squats in weight lifting). Those thrusters are going to help.

I agree.
Like I said, it’s not a big deal, it just seemed odd to me because they’ve lifted things that were seemingly, since I’m not up on my CAA structural engineering codes to determine the weight of that slab, heavier and didn’t need the thrusters. Think about it, when we tell Chief to flip a warthog in CE it can really go flipping. It’s not like it teeters and then goes over, it lifts fully off the ground in most cases and there were no thrusters needed for that. Yeah, it’s gameplay mechanics and I’ll be the first guy to admit that where this was supposed to be a dramatic trailer, but they’re so subtle that it took me this long to notice.
Did anyone else notice them prior to this thread?
