I understand halo needs to keep changing to stay relevant, If halo 3 came out today for xbox one, that game would be enormously popular with every halo player, new and old. 343 talks about appealing to a new generation, but what generation wouldn’t love that game. 343 didn’t need to change the game mechanics to make a new halo. Even with all of the changes to the game mechanics in halo 5, the classic halo’s for me still do it better. I find myself wanting to play halo 3 and halo 2 multiplier on MCC more than play the beta.
LOL I still haven’t ground pounded anyone in halo 5.
Yeah, Halo 3, new engine with amazing hit detection and beautiful graphics released in November of 2015 would dominate H5 in popularity and longevity.
People get stuck on the ‘but they just play so old’… They ARE old (graphics, horrible engine, hit detection)… but the foundation is perfect with technical upgrades (not adding abilities and diving face first to be like other ‘modern shooters’).

This is exactly it.
The old formula is simply better. 343 needs to understand this.
I’m not against new things, but the new things they’ve decided to go with in 4 and 5 make the game worse. Either come up with a good idea, or leave the formula as is and update the graphics, add new maps, and be done with it.
Better yet, just fix MCC, add some maps for H2A, and do whatever you want with H5. I don’t think you’ll ever get it.
You’re deluding yourself dude. Sprint and Thrusters absolutely 122% will not be removed. The money spent on art, animations, labor, time etc. is already gone. They will not remove it and we’ve already had 3 Halo games with sprint included. Just grow up and deal. Just because you think you’re a special little snowflake and your entitlement issues make you think that 343i has to cater to your ill-conceived notions on how Halo has to be developed, does not at all mean that it will be developed in that direction.
In short Sprint + Halo = HERE TO STAY, GET OVER IT.
If you can’t get over it, good news! You can play Halo the way you love it in The Master Chief Collection!
If that’s not good enough, you can always contact -Yoink!- about indie development opportunity, they’d possibly back you to build Halo the way you think it needs to be designed. We’ll see just how well that markets.
I mean seriously, almost 80% of all the new gameplay features abilities and animations revolve around the thrusters existence! You obviously don’t understand how game development works or how a business works on a free market!

Well said brother. Can’t we just copy paste this into every sprint thread and be done with it?
Although, I will say that there is a possibility of having future Halo games without sprint so maybe that’s what they’re going for?
Regardless, sprint is in Halo 5 and will always be in Halo 5. It’s time to deal people. Time to deal.

No. It will sell gang busters and so will the rest. For the time being, however it’s possible that Halo will not be the top seller of the year and that’s fine. It will, however, sell well and it will go on.

I’m actually doing exactly that. Too lazy to type it all up so I’m just copy pasting it. Feel free to do so yourself.

no Halo has surpassed Halo 3 in sales and that’s even with larger console install bases. It shows most favor the old foundation. I doubt sprint will be removed and I honestly think 343’s reason for including it is 100% stupid. Halo 3 has a great foundation to build off of, but 343 seems to be way too proud to go back and is hellbent on making this their Halo, which they could still do with a “classic halo” foundation.
Hell I don’t even need it to be built off Halo 3’s foundation I just want them to use what worked in previous games rather than trying to improve something that didn’t need improvement cough rank and social playlists, equipment, maps that suit the gameplay well cough

Okay then, your loss.
Bye, don’t let the virtual door hit your -Yoink- on the way out!

A few things:
Where is your sales data from? I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I am saying back it up otherwise there’s no way to prove that no Halo has sold better than Halo 3.
Is it possible that we live in a time that is removed enough from the era in which Halo 3 released that factors other than the features of the Halo franchise itself could be used to explain any trends in sales or gamer habits? I mean, it’s been a little over 7 years. At that time the iPhone was brand new–only three months old. There were no iPads and people were still hesitant to even buy an HDTV. Blu Rays and HD DVDs were in a heated battle, etc. Halo 3 was released into a wholly different consumer market. It’s difficult to really compare it’s climate of release to the subsequent Halo games and that, my friend, is a truth that cannot be taken lightly on this subject.

> Pfft. Strafing? Who does that anymore? It’s all about Thrusting now!
Oh, I thought the bullet magnatism made straffing useless. You’re right, 3 sec thruster cooldown got rid of straffing.
seriously, I’m enjoying the groundpound and hover aim. Thrusters… they feel cheap and while sliding/ charge feel alright the sprinting requisite ruins any real control of them.
I am sorry but Sprint and Thruster pack are not going anywhere. To be actually helpful here, give a suggestion as to better balance them, or suggest a way to turn these things off in game settings.
Plus, if you don’t like it you can go back and play Halo 3 all you want in MCC.
