Thruster pack Q

Hi folks. So whats up with this Amrour Ability? I’ve tried it out and cant really see the benefit yet. Its just as ‘quick’, or maybe even slower due to the 3rd person switch, as sprinting. And the distance is really short.
If you sprint alongside a team mate and use the ability you gain nothing. Whats the point?
Needs to be allot faster or quicker applied in my opinion.

Any input?

It’s pretty bad/useless. I find I use other AAs more often.

It’s there to look pretty

It’s just a waste of 3 halo space bucks. I bought it thinking it might be something like evade… I was so, so wrong.

Use it like a dodge.

You can use it to jump backwards from grenades quickly.

If your quick enough and time it right you can also use it to get behind players in a melee situation. Or away and snap up a head shot while they melee the empty space in front of them. Or even towards them and get the melee kill quickly as soon as shields are down.

It is highly situational, but can make the difference between life and death.

The way it is in Flood is amazing. It needs to be around half of that for it to be any amount of useful.

It’s about half what the Flood have in the Campaign with MC. Perfect like that.

However even with the limited MP version I still find is incredibly useful for dodging grenades and ghosts.

so is jumping.

I find it the best AA, this is what evade should of been. I use it to dodge, duck into cover when dualing and its an advantage in cqc when used with a bit of tactic. LEAVE AS IS I say!

i think it needs just a slight range boost. maybe 20% and it would be perfect.

Yes and no, depends how close you are to the nade/ghost at he time.

Jumping works a lot… but not always.

im not trying to say its a useless AA but, for me, i would rather take the chance with my jump instead of having my AA slot taken by something as situational as the thruster pack. ive been using the hologram quite effectively.

Ok yes, I can see the benefits in the side to side movement and quickly skipping backwards.
I might try it out some more but as stated, its seems highly situational.
Still, I would like a little quicker response on the actual activation of the effect!
Thanks for the replies

You arent alone.

I bought it thinking it would sort of be like the thruster pack used in the Flood gametype, I was terribly, terribly wrong…

I feel like there is a slight pause at the beginning and end of the thrust. Like you’re bracing before it goes off and catching your balance after. I also hate how it goes into 3rd person. It might be useful to go into 3rd person when you use it as the flood but for such a short distance it doesn’t nothing useful but throw off you aim.

I think the distance does need to increase a little. Not like the Flood though. Right now, if I was standing at the end of a hallway and I used it to take cover behind a corner, I wouldn’t make it behind the corner if I was standing the the middle of the hallway. It’d pretty pathetic.

You don’t use it as a way to travel, like Jetpack. I think that’s the problem for most people, they bought it because they thought they could get around faster.

You use it to dodge projectiles/grenades, quickly dash behind cover, and clearing a jump.
