The thruster pack needs to be a bit more useful only moving 3 - 5 feet is kinda useless, only thing really good to use for it to move behide a rock or get off a grenade but compared to all the other ability’s its garbage.
If thruster pack moved just a bit farther it would be perfect.
agreed, i think it’d be better if it was a little more powerful, i think the one in campaign was a bit stronger.
That’s what it’s made for. It’s not made to launch you across the map but to avoid grenades, boosting vehicles, etc.
I think its fine the way it is. It’s not supposed to be as powerful as evade in reach and for me at least, it serves its purpose really well. always nice to thruster to the side or back off a ledge to take cover if my shield pops, saved me countless times. also i enjoy using it when i land a point blank stick and thrust away so i dont blow up too. you just gotta work with the small size and come up with ways to utilize it. cheers

this is true, thruster pack is vastly underpowered for what its meant to be used for, aka dodging grenade and vehicles, anything larger than a mongoose is still gonna splatter you, and you are just gonna get out of the major damage area of most grenades, and get this, for being big strapping giant rockets, they hardly move you any faster then sprinting.

I agree, for example the flood thruster pack is great…but in modes besides that, its weakness makes it irrelevant and stupid to use. I liked the trade for the speed boost versus the risk of sending myself flying off the map.
It’s fine the way it is. There isn’t a single AA that needs to be buffed. I like that Halo 4 doesn’t revolve around AAs like Reach did. It should revolve around guns, grenades, and melee. AAs are just that little extra that can help in the right situation but don’t change the outcome of the game. I personally think 343 got this right. Other than the PV which is a blatant wall hack and the light shield which is almost like moveable armor lock(delay the inevitable button). Still doesn’t bug me like they did in Reach.
I think it could do with a slight increase to how far they take you. The distance right now is barely noticeable.
I agree on a small boost. Maby MAX +3 feet.
Granades can still kill me, but it could be the explosive perk aswell <-<
its the weakest in comparison to campaign and flood mode. flood mode being the most ridiculous of course.
in MP it almost feels as if i dont even really move, and its just a annoying 3rd person cam moment. you only move 1 whole body space away, and thats if your really paying attention otherwise it seems almost like the time it took to pan out and pan back in, you could have simply done the dodging your self. the one in campaign gave me the feelin that i could at least trust its ability to dodge, where MP makes me feel like im just doing it to amuse my opponents. plus ive seen way more people use any other AA including sentry gun over thrust pack.
I find it great to avoid sword lunges and snipers.
However I can say that it needs a bit of a buff. Maybe make the thrust distance twice or at least half a bit longer, AND/or allow it to actually carry your momentum through the air instead of completely stopping it.
I too think that the thruster pack is woefully underpowered. The animation for it needs to either be cut down/removed entirely (leaving the player in first-person view while thrusting) or the distance needs to be increased enough for the animation to not be a liability. I see every AA but thrust pack being used. It’s just not competitive enough.

That’d actually be pretty useful. It’s nice to be able to drop down when you’re catapulting across a map and something interesting shows up halfway between the launcher and the normal landing point. But what happens if someone’s flying a banshee right at you and a drop is going to kill you just as surely as continuing through the air?
To hell with you damn MM players and your balance issues, I want a Thruster Pack that launches me across the map in Spartan OPs. The rest of your competitive playlists can be boring and dull as you want.
After using this ability in Campaign and Flood, I was really looking forward to using it in War Games. But I was disappointed.
I think it needs a distance buff. Nothing on the level of the Flood, but something mush better than it has now. What would that be? Not for me to decide, but it needs something.
