Thruster Pack needs a Boost

The thruster pack, in wargames, is completely worthless. It barely moves you two steps forward and not much quicker than you can sprint it. This item desperately needs a re-tuning in the form of greater distance traveled.

(As a fun side note, go into a custom game with Player Traits set to Move Speed = 300% and gravity = 50%, and then hit the thruster pack… now there is some thrust! Unfortunately, unless you get a speed boost from an ordnance, you are handicapping yourself by having effectively no armor ability.)

I was just about to make a topic about this. Thanks for beating me to it. They NEED to make the thruster pack like it is in the flood (ironic how I think that because I also believe it should be REMOVED from flood).

I think it’s fine as is. It allows you to avoid the deceleration when trying to shift in another direction, and it gives you important mobility while in the air.

For what it’s worth, the jet pack gives far more mobility in the air. The thruster pack needs to be a burst of speed, not a crawl of 2 feet.

Yes, it needs a boost. At first I was using it, but after seeing how short the boost distance is I had to switch it out. It’s useful in KoTH (where the nades come flying in), but that’s mainly it.

I so support this!

I love the idea of thrusters and the use of it but I don’t feel like it really gets you in/out of situations like it should.

If thrusters covered more ground and moved about 20% faster it would be an amazing ability.

Yes, they seriously need to make it more effective.

This needs to be done! The thruster is so fun to use and if it got you more then 3 feet it would make using it so much more effective!

Ah, I’m going to say it. I miss the old school Armor Lock from Reach. They need to take some of those ideas and meld them with the Thruster Pack.

-Make the thrust distance just a little bit longer, as OP said, you barely move two steps currently.
-Make the player invincible while thrusting. Currently, with aim assist and the low distance traveled, the thrusting player is incredibly vulnerable and can’t even fire back.
-Would love to see maybe an energy drain or mild damage if you thrust into a player.

The armor abilities don’t do anything to mix up the gameplay, buff all of 'em.

thruster pack is meant to dive to the side out of vehicle paths or to boost toward a sprinting spartan anything else is overkill.

Pff, like you need to go to the side to avoid vehicles. Jump over 'em, its easy, and everyone is already doing that. And its also used to boost towards enemies? When you’re completely vulnerable and unable to return fire? Wut?

Go into a custom put movement to 130% and use thruster pack that’s how I think it should be no more no less. But also it shouldn’t only be able to go on a horizontal plain(not sure if that’s the correct spelling). You should be able to move whatever direction you’re looking along with what direction you’re moving. And it shouldn’t be affected by gravity.

thus far,the biggest thing i’ve found the thurster pack to excel at is to do ninja assassinations, thats it.

for gaining distance they are useless, and for avvoid thing, the only one the excell at is when grenade land right in front of you, so you can thrust back rather then backpeddiling

I think the thrust forward should be increased some, maybe to the distance you’d go with an Evade from Reach, but I think to the sides and back are fine because it works as a quick dodge.

I am thinking the same thing, while not making it as good as the flood version which jets you 40+ feet in an instant then lets you slide/rebound around like a pinball across a map instantly… the basic boost pack should do more. ATM, it doesn’t even get you far enough to break the aim assist (People have used it to stop me from getting a final headshot on shield break, but it just pulled my crosshair with him and he died just as fast). It should be roughly 2x or 2.5x the boost it gives now.

The one in flood is just too good considering you can sword attack while boosting which kills anything in a 20m line in front of you instantly. Honestly I think flood and oddball should both also have some sort of “goal” to them. Both modes consist of one team camping to preserve their lives instead of what I feel like they should be.

The spartans in flood should be trying to get somewhere, spawn on the other side of the map, and have to activate something or stand on a king of the hill platform for a bit of time (like they are trying to get to an extraction point or something) because atm most people just group up and wait for the flood which makes promethian vision and cloaking useless 99% of the time, or they splinter off and sit in a corner to preserve their lives trying to run the timer down. There needs to be a goal so that both teams are trying to do something instead of the flood just trying to convert for a victory. That and oddball, I played it thinking I’d be running a ball with my team, trying to get it to the enemy teams base to score a “goal”… it wound up being:

  1. Grab oddball
  2. Bring oddball back to base
  3. Camp there with oddball
  4. If about to die, give oddball to someone else so they can camp with it

Neither of these two modes are as fun as they should be, and too centered around camping (I’m not angry at campers, it’s just a slow playstyle) instead of flood being a hectic fight for extraction, or oddball being a halo variant of basketball… with bullets.

true

Yep, it’s worthless as it is now.

It could do with being a bit longer, but not to the extent of the Flood version.

Thruster Pack is an almost use full AA. There seems to be a perfect combination of nerfs that render this function useless.

-Short Distance; less effective
-Third Person; disorients
-Can’t Aim and Shoot; vulnerable

Improve any one of these to fix the problem.
