When I heard about the thruster boost, I thought it would be pretty cool. I’ve been using it for a few games and all I have to say is the distance is pitiful and laughable. Might as well just sprint to get where you’re going. The distance cleared really needs to be increased.
Some say it was toned down since E3. WHY!?

Use it in flood mode this is the way it needs to be.
For some reason, when the Flood use it, they clear a huge distance. Maybe it just has to do with their movement speed, but that should really be the standard distance with it. It’s probably the worst AA right now as it serves literally no purpose at all. It doesn’t go far enough to avoid being splattered or to get away from a grenade.
Yeah, I thought it’d be like Evade where it was actually worthwhile to have as an ability. But I usually got killed using the thruster pack because of the zoom out to 3rd person and the tiny distance. It’s absolutely horrible.
And it shouldn’t only be useful in ONE playlist if you’re going to make people use Spartan Points to buy it

Darnit, just made a thread about this before I saw yours.
I agree, it should have the distance it pushes you toned up to 200-250% of it’s current power.
All I can say is that this is a huge let down for me, since Thruster Pack was the number one AA I was looking forward to using.

5 seconds into my first game of Flood, that’s exactly what I did.
Go to custom and put it on unlimited. It is the best.

haha! its also helpful for getting to certain places where the main way up is being watched if you can get the bounce just right off something
Yep, it’s pretty much useless.
I regret spending points on it, honestly. I’d have been better off saving for Jetpack.
It’s mostly used for flood. Don’t like it don’t use it.
Its utterly useless in normal matchmaking games. I don’t think it actually makes any difference to your speed at all, really weird…

Don’t like it don’t use it? That’s possibly the most brainless, idiotic comment you could have ever made. The fact that it sucks doesn’t mean people shouldn’t use it, it means 343i should do something about it and actually make it useful.
It clears literally no distance at all that you couldn’t have achieved by simply running. Hell, there have been times where I made a jump, used thruster pack and missed that I could have made if I had just ran and jumped. I like the idea of a thruster pack. A spiritual successor to evade is perfectly fine with me, but it’s useless. Nice try though -Yoink- hole.
I think it is as it is becouse they didn’t want to make it too powerfull
Yup, it only works in infection. It should have worked like evade…just with thrusters.
