So thrust is most likely going to be a pick-up. It is very possible though we could spawn with thrusters for competitive settings. Thrust adds a movement and 1v1 skill gap, but let’s avoid following CoD’s footsteps and not have the same game every year. The only major difference between H5’s and Infinite’s mechanics is the thruster (and stabilize, sprint speed, slide distance, but those are minor). If we spawn with thrusters and the H5 magnum, the game will basically be another halo 5. I’ll take a note from the H5 fans in 2019 and say, “If you want ##### mechanics, go play ##### .”
I think thrust as a pick-up is perfect (with like 3-5 uses). It’ll kinda be used as a less vertical grapple because the player can use it to move very quickly into enemy territory (with a thrust slide or something) to make a play and out 1v1 someone. It could also be used to escape. Pros would make sure to time it and treat it like a power weapon. I think two on the map would be balanced.
TL;DR Spawning with thrust in Infinite basically makes it Halo 5. “If you want ##### mechanics, go play ##### .”
I hope not.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy Halo 5 MP a lot! I had an absolute blast in breakout and warzone.
BUT
After sinking hundreds of hours into MCC, I can safely say that Halo 5 wasn’t very “Halo”
I like every single Halo game in one aspect or more, and I have dumped thousands of hours into all the games over these years, and Halo 5 stands out the most as the ‘odd one’.
That being said, I wouldn’t mind that movement coming back as “Thruster Slayer” in an Action Sack playlist or something along those lines!

I like the idea that Halo Infinite will have everything to make every other Halo game possible in its engine.
So if we eventually want a 1:1 recreation of Halo 5 we could do it. That would be ideal for certain scenarios and make Halo Infinite the main Halo game. Personally I don’t think thrusters fit in Infinite as it currently exists.
It feels good to use, but it does not feel good to have someone use it against you. I like it, but I also understand that it goes against one of Halo’s core gameplay principles. I can live without it, and I don’t need it when the rest of the game is designed well.
I will say I missed thrusters during the technical preview, but they aren’t needed. I played so much Halo 5 that I became reliant on using them (or you’d die if you didnt) that I do miss them. However, they aren’t needed and I became very comfortable the the original feel of Halo movement during Infinite’s test.
But I would be curious if anything is going to he explained in the campaign for where they went to, assuming they don’t exist there as well.
