Throwback: trick kills

Does anyone remember “The Ninja”? Or the random plasmas that would travel past someone’s head and then boomerang?

If you remember any other trick kills, or know of some new ones, tell me about your experiences.

by ‘the ninja’ do you mean ‘NINJAing’ someone? when i think of this its jumping backwards over someones head when they arent expecting it, in order to get you an assassination kill.

and how does one do your boomerang plasma? that sounds like a sticky visual glitch or something. can you replicate it like you can with the ninja?

as for other ones, nothing tops the quad shot from halo 2. executing this in order to out BR someone when you were low shields (or even 1 shot), is the most satisfying thing you could possibly do in a halo game IMO. not only does no other mechanic or ‘thing’ bring you as much adrenaline in halo since the double shot and the quad shot, nothing even remotely comes close. executing this gives you this feeling that is so amazing, it should almost be illegal. it was also incredibly addictive. it made gameplay so incredibly fun you would literally never get bored, and would even skip sleeping to play more.

I’ve seen a few boomerang plasmas in Reach! It’s some weird visual glitch that makes the sticky grenade look like it’s traveling past the person, but it was actually a direct hit. So at first, you see it travel past the person, then warp back and get stuck on the target.

Wait so,

A person is one shot because they got outskilled/outplayed…

Then they do this quadshot thing…which isnt even supposed to be in the game…

Thus saving themselves with a cheap mechanic when they really should have died…

Isnt there a certain other thread you are involved in where you rail endlessly against this sort of thing? I got a feeling but i cant quite put my finger on it…

And now it is, LOL.

There was a thread dedicated about Bungie employee’s saying that they report users who BXR or double/quad shot. If i happen to run by it again I’ll link it, but its pretty old.

But while they found it to be cheating, MLG did not.
Nothing was more frustrating than Host + button combos.
I actually happened to ask a few members of 343i that use to work for Bungie (at halofest), if they ever had thought of including button combos (bxr, bxb, etc) into future games. It was a quick and precise NO. They stated that they wanted to keep gameplay tight and as simple as possible. Good enough reason for me.
Then they signed my helmet :).

It’s part of the built-in lag compensation. Your Xbox thought the sticky missed based on the information it had that second (showing it fly past the guy), then got word from the host (which makes all the decisions) that it in fact did hit him, so your xbox moved the the sticky to where it “really” was.

It’s also why when it gets really laggy you see people walk in a straight line one way, and then suddenly shift to a completely different place. It’s your xbox making guesses based off of sketchy information.
