Three small questions about the Campaign

So, I have been thinking about picking up the game but due to Campaign being the only game mode I get to play anytime (I only have Silver account, so I only get to try the multiplayer and such with trial codes), I would like some confirmations about two small things.

  1. Compared to previous Halo titles, does the Campaign have increased amount of unskippable scripted events? And I mean events similiar to most of the FPS games today where the player is “forced” to stare at a flying vehicle and such.

  2. How many vehicle focused sections are there?

  3. Are subtitles shown even outside of cutscenes? Previous Halo titles didn’t seem to do that.

Thanks for all the answers

  1. Not too many, it has a few, but it’s not a big deal.
  2. A few. Nothing like Halo 2 or 3. Or even Reach. Very little this time around (3)?
  3. Yes!

Besides two quicktime events that are brief, rare and work well because they’re brief and rare, there is not many if at all any forced cutscenes (but there are regular cutscenes usuualy before and after each level that are well done). Like with blowing up story objectives if you look away you’ll miss it. I really liked the campaign, so much that I felt it was to short and I just want more. Yet its fun to replay on higher difficulties because they made a large sandbox with multiple ways to traverse through levels and win.

Forgot to mention theres lots of vehicles they balance the on foot combat well with vehicle combat and even give you the choice to choose on foot or vehicle for some encounters.

Sounds great. I have rarely enjoyed vehicle sections in video games (Halo does it better than others though), so it’s nice that 343 has made that possible.

Thanks for all the answers. Those things got me a bit worried about the Campaign and now I can get the game without worries!

  1. Only Dawn (first level) has QTEs. Midnight (last level) has a QTE for a boss fight.

There are cinematic moments (not cutscenes) you can’t skip (1 on Requiem, 2 on Forerunner, 1 on Reclaimer, 2 on Midnight) but they’re very short.

  1. 1 Ghost run, 1 Broadsword run, 2 Scorpion sections, 2 Mantis sections, 2 Banshee sections, 1 surprise vehicle section. You can skip the Broadsword run pretty easily.

  2. Yep. I keep it on 24/7.
