Three simple fixes to make progression good
MATCH REWARDS
Problem: getting 50xp per match no matter what doesn’t reward good players and promotes XP farming.
Fixes:
- 10 XP for WIN in arena and 20 XP for WIN in BTB
- XP reward for each medal - from 5xp for simpler ones to 100 XP for mythical
- 5xp * KDA to reward players with positive KDA
Outcomes:
- Winning feels more rewarding
- Having a good kda no matter the match outcome feels more rewarding
- Earning a medal feels more rewarding
CHALLENGES
Problem: Doesn’t reward players who could only play several matches on a weekend. Reward for a week-long grind doesn’t feel substantial.
Promotes unhealthy playstyles, like people quitting to get the mode they need, arguing for who gets the shade turret, etc.
Fixes:
- Have 4 tier rewards for the week - one for completing challenges in each tier. Rewards should all be cosmetics. From emblems and trinkets for lvl1 to store items for the ultimate challenge
- Count progress towards all of the challenges (not 3-4 slots)
- Remove specific mode challenges
- Balance weapon kills challenges to fewer kills with less reward but add them for each weapon each week (specifically for shade turret make it - 1)
- Move rare vehicles kill challenges to the ultimate level
- Add first win of the day with 100xp back
Outcomes:
- Not having to progress towards challenges in a specific order will speed things up
- Players won’t quit because they didn’t match in a specific mode
- Players who can only play a little each week will also feel rewarded
- Players who can play a lot each week will have more substantial rewards
- Having challenges for specific weapons with fewer kills will promote learning the sandbox but remove the negative aspects of the current setup
BOTS
Problem: Bots replacing players in a match are too weak. They drag down the whole team down.
Fixes:
- Bot difficulty should either be determined based on SBMM or they at least should be ODST
Outcomes:
- Players leaving the match won’t affect match outcome to the same degree as it is now
