Lopsided matchmaking on High Noon in Classic with one grenade spawns just isn’t fun. The cadence of the original pistol never fired this fast. Not trying to be overly negative but the maps are fun and the three shot pistol is TERRIBLE. Now the game is only DMRs and Pistols. Why even have other weapons? Its sad halo has come to this point where you spend most of the game in death lobby windows. I have a 1.2 k/d too. Sad. MLG wins at forcing their rules on the masses again.

TSK magnum is back! It is overpowered and I love it. Magnum, AR, 1 grenade, 4 grenades instead of 2 at grenade drops. This brings back memories. Good memories.
I say to learn the magnum in the classic playlist. You’ll see the reason why the overpowerness of the little pea shooter is a good time once you figure it out. I like its ROF also, I think it is fine, but then again I don’t spend most of the match watching myself respawn (just sometimes).
I have a 1.2 K/D just like you do, so if I can do it, you can do it.

I don’t really see how MLG had anything to do with it other than being advisors for gameplay, which isn’t a “winning over everybody”. 343 wants to make sure the gameplay is suitable and refined; MLG has experience in that. Wouldn’t you want to utilize expert advice instead of listening to fanboys?

MLG started up during the Halo 2 days.
343i, announces a Halo CE remake with Reach Multiplayer for Multiplayer, three shot kill pistol returns for that sole purpose.
MLG had NO part in Halo CE or Halo CEA.
If refined is pistol and dmr warfare only then no I don’t want it. I am from the camp that believes you should EARN your weapons by rushing to spawns at the start, picking them up off of fallen teammates/enemies and strategy. Giving everyone a pistol, or dmr, or both at spawn is really not my idea of good refinement. Sorry, one gun warfare that MLG likes is what I’m talking about. Plus, you don’t see more quitters too because of all this dmr/pistol non-sense? I never thought I’d be considering leaving halo before. Just annoying.

The setting is only in use in the Anniversary playlists. You can go to any other part of Matchmaking, or to Custom Games, if you find the Annie Magnum annoying.
MLG had no influence on the implementation of the 3SK Magnum. It is an attempt at recreating a Halo: Combat Evolved game mechanic solely within the confines of playlists devoted to recreating Halo: Combat Evolved game mechanics. It will not be removed.
I had a feeling I’d hear from trolls, but even folks who think they know CE think this is the same pistol. # symbols are pop culture don’t try to defeat it with poor comebacks. Yes I know I can avoid the Anny playlist. Thanks for your responses everyone, although I still think the 3 shot should stay to campaign and CE.

I know this has already been iterated before, but: it’s a CE REMAKE. Why wouldn’t the TSK Magnum be in a CE remake? The original game had it in matchmaking, therefore the remade game should have it as well.

Very untrue. Almost every weapon in Halo CE was useful in the niche roles that they played (Sniper for long range, shotgun for close range, etc…) and the Pistol served the role of the utility weapon.
The purpose of the utility weapon is to give you a good chance of survival in any situation. In order for this to be a possibility, the utility weapon must be decent at every range, in every scenario. The developers gave the pistol a very fast minnimum kill time, but balanced it out by requiring you to land all headshots in order to pull off a 3sk, in addition to leading all of your shots. Don’t be fooled by the pistol’s minnimum kill time, it was barely ever successfully excecuted, and was very difficult to pull off.
Furthermore, the pistol helped balance CE’s sandbox to near perfection. The utility weapons in CE’s successors were all so weak, they made the power weapons garunteed kills. Having a fast killing utility weapon in Halo CE made the power weapons more of a “skill item” that was capable to doing some serious work in it’s intended role, but if used improperly you would certianly be punished for it. This is the kind of balance Halo needs again.
Yeah, the 3 shot pistol is overpowered. There’s a reason why Bungie never brought it back. I think that the 3 shot pistol should be limited the the classic playlist. The other Anniversary playlists should just use the new maps, but that’s just my thoughts.

what was the gametype for high noon? that map is, and will always be terrible for competitive / serious team deathmatch games.
but MLG forcing their rules on the masses? you have to be kidding me kid. you clearly have no concept of this. MLG had NOTHING to do with these settings. if they did, we wouldnt have -Yoink!- jump height settings. halo 1 had the 3 shot pistol as well. while i do agree it needs change, this change doesnt have to come from the # of bullets required for a kill. the main problems are BLOOM and the kill time that is too fast.
so…
remove bloom on the pistol, and cap the rate of fire to allow 1 bullet fired every .65 bullets. (1.3 second kill time).
See, this is why we need two different sets of playlists. We need to have a group of playlists that utilize the TU settings for the competitive people, and we need to keep the default Reach settings for the casual crowd.
What 343 seems to have done with the anniversary playlist is make a playlist that neither crowd really enjoys. The competitive players want the pistol to be better, and casuals want the pistol toned down. A playlist split is obiously what we need.

MLG was definitely around during Halo CE, don’t know where these facts are coming from. MLG is about making competitive multiplayer games competitive, I don’t see what’s wrong with that.

They haven’t “won” anything. There was never a fight. MLG just understands/understood that the balance of CE was what made it the most competitive Halo. The fact that this new CE isn’t as balanced as it should be shouldn’t satisfy them in any way.
