Three nitpicks I hope get solved before launch.

I think we can all agree that Halo Infinite’s MP looks absolutely incredible, I had my reservations from the E3 trailer but man, The MP overview washed away any and all concerns. But there are still some minor nitpicks that a lot of people seem to have and I thought I’d wrap them up here and hopefully they get solved before the main game releases.

  1. Incredibly bright and obnoxious shield effects. And not only is it incredibly bright and covers the entire spartan, its over quite quickly unlike the constant lightning effect on previous Spartans that tell you the shields down without it being “too much”. Honestly, just copy any of the other 6 Halo games with shields and it would look better than this.

  2. The gravity hammer seems to not do much at all in terms of its gravity displacement. In the gameplay trailer, the Spartan hit by the hammer head on actually fell forward…and flopped right on the floor. I wanna see them flyyyy into the sky. It’s a gravity hammer after all.

  3. The BR reticle looks straight out of a fan made Halo game so that really needs to get changed no matter what. It just looks awkward, and incredibly tiny.

That’s really all the issues I have with the game, and the only ones I have seen been brought up by the rest of the community. Everything else seems so amazing. A true return to form for the series, Infinite is looking like something real special. Also I gotta say, the Halo 3 vibes are so real!

I agree with this. Also make the gravity hammer smash a bit faster and with red plasma discharge instead of blue.

Unyshek on the 343i community team has actually addressed the BR reticle on Twitter already.

He basically mentions that these trailers aren’t the final product and some of this stuff has already been changed - including the BR reticle.
There’s a new reticle design in the Multiplayer Overview video that closer resembles the current look of the reticle.

I do agree the shield effect does look a bit too bright. I’m hoping that’s something that’s being tweaked a bit too. I think I preferred the older style of shield pop that looked more like a electrical fizzle.

Also, medals.

Weapon skins are coming for all sorts of weapons so changing the colour of the swing and plasma effect may come with it, which would look awesome in red.

Yeah that’s the only issue I had with what we saw thus far. The bright hexagonal shields. I never had any issue with spotting when or if shield were popped in the Halo’s thus far, but this seems turned up a notch in comparison to those.

  1. Radar is too small. The current setting is 20M, the minimum should be 25M especially when sprint exists

  2. Needs to be Red vs Blue setting for people that want it. The enemy outlines look way too muddled and you can’t see the enemy from far off ( at least I couldn’t see them in the trailer)

Yeah the “gravity” hammer seemed more like someone getting hit with a normal hammer. Also don’t like how you turn into a lightbulb when your shield breaks. Could at least make it some sort of blue.

The shield breakin is def a lil blinding. Agree it needs to tone down a little. Thankfully it looks like something that can be easily adjusted with a patch.

Just make the gravity hammer an actual gravity hammer. It looks like it just does damage and doesn’t even launched anything away. It does look like it’s range is decent but I need it to absolutely launch things.

I hope so. It would give a more Banished vibe to the weapon.

I agree with your number two point regarding the gravity hammer. The effect it had on the enemy does not seem physics-based.

My deal breaker is the offensive high- frequency hit marker sound effects that seem to be making a return from Halo 5. After all, that’s why I never completed a single mission nor match of Halo 5.

My niggles so far:

shield ‘pop’ as other have mentioned.

hammer seems to lack weight to be honest.

gun designs some really don’t scream HALO both in looks and sound. I mean with some of the weapons where is the ‘punch’ many of Halo’s weapons are iconic in both look and sound. These new additions look more as if they’ve been pulled from COD rather than created for Halo. (Sidekick and the new shorty being the two main culprits from what’s been shown so far).

I’m actually mor excited for this games MP than I have been for any other Halo’s since 3. Fingers crossed 343 can deliver an experience that both new and old players will love.

I like the Shield pop, seems quite satisfying and reminds me to Halo 2.

I have a small nitpick of my own, the sniper’s lens flare is too big and too bright, I think the lens flare should be toned down a bit

Heavily agree with the gravity hammer. Needs much more umph.

I can agree that it does seem a tad bit obnoxious to see a 7+ foot tall person blinking rapidly for a second. The older games did have a better approach to this, so my hope is that, knowing this is something they put together weeks/months ago, it has since been changed and that was just a placeholder we saw.

It would at least make sense for them to fall backward rather than forward from the propulsion of the gravity flux. Though flying I’m not sure would be correct as they are still, what, half a ton of body and armor? It depends on the strength of the Gravity Hammer.

> 3. The BR reticle looks straight out of a fan made Halo game so that really needs to get changed no matter what. It just looks awkward, and incredibly tiny.

It does look a bit strange, but we don’t use the reticle anyway since it naturally links up to our HUD. It’s likely designed for use both for Spartans and Marines, hence the size. Marines don’t need a massive scope but it won’t bother me if they decide to upscale it a bit.

How can you say that about perfection

I would LOVE to see Spartans go flying after getting ruined by the gravity hammer !

Dang I kinda liked the shield effects. I thought they were inspired by Halo 5, although I never played that game.

I think it’s confirmed that in the trailer the enemy outlines were turned off entirely. In the vidoc there were a few times where they were shown and they looked pretty clear in my opinion.
