Threats in Halo Nightfall

Simple idea here… What do you think are going to be the primary threats faced by Locke and his team on the chunk of Halo during nightfall…

My ideas… Since frank stated that the Halo piece will be a character itself so we’re going to see defensive systems such as Sentinels. There was also a subtle hint from Kiki in an interview may have alluded to a possible appearance of 343GS. Then of course there is always the flood and insurrectionists. My hope all of the above.

Any other good theories?

Since it’s between H34 and H4, I doubt we’ll see 343GS. He appears in one of the Forerunner trilogy books as a barely-fuctional shell picked up by a research ship. He narrates his life as a human before being made into a monitor, his experiences with Forerunners, the Flood, Geases and all that, then uploads himself to the ship’s computer, replaces its AI, and flies off to Find the Lifeshaper, who may or may not be the Librarian or Chant-To-Green. Sooo… Yeah.

Malfunctioning or protocol-following sentinels would be very cool, though. Would make for some great effects, too.

Imagine some covenant who endured and managed to survive somehow.

I just want to see a Grunt in something live action for once. What about … Yayap? Was that his name? From “The Flood” who ran away with a bunch of methane tanks somewhere on the ring? I mean, he obviously died or ran out of methane by now … They better have a grunt somewhere.

Poor Yayap only brought one methane tank with him. Though he was most like killed by the Pillar of Autumn’s destruction.

As for threats on the ring fragment, I kinda expect the Flood to show up, though wouldn’t they of starved to death by the time humans show up? I mean it would be a long time to go without food.
However, I’m sure we’ll see some Forerunner defenses as you said. The ring had a plentiful supply of them, I’m positive that some would be on that specific section of the ring.

He was killed by the PoA explosion.

I think some Easter eggs might be in order such as Yayap’s remains or something to that effect… maybe the remains of an elite embracing a marine for those who finished CE on legendary.

Those remains would have been vaporized by the explosion.

The section of the ring that slispaced away is probably really far away from the section that exploded.

Except Nightfall takes place after Halo 4, not between Halo 3 and Halo 4.

I’d honestly be surprised if their wasn’t a shoot-out between the ONI Agents and some Innies at some point, but at the same time I also feel like it’ll be a bit too similar to Prometheus (they even look the same. Yeah I know, Ridley Scott did both, but still) and pull some sort of entirely new thing that’s BASED off of an old threat.

That thing that only targets humans? Flood sounds right, but it’ll probably be Flood SPORES at first, then full forms later (I’d be shocked if we saw a Combat Form though)

Either way I doubt spark would go back to his broken ring to find the librarian.

A threat is the ring itself. In one of the previews I read, it mentioned that the ring fragment is spinning and the ONI team have 16 hours to get the job done before that side of the ring faces the sun/gas giant and incinerates everything on the surface.

It’s difficult to say, seeing as they’ve been keeping such a tight lid on Halo: Nightfall’s story. But from the few scenes we’ve been shown, I think we’re going to get to see those cool DMRs and Magnums in action.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t we have sources stating that Nightfall takes place in part of a city as well? And there was also this mention of an Insurgent-aligned outer colony world… or maybe it was just speculation and my memory fools me.

If we have to assume Nightfall takes place entirely on Installation 04, we would also have to assume that the enemy has devised some sort of SPF 5,000,000 sunscreen, is of a very hardy composition, or had access to an insertion method similar to Locke’s team. Or, there are safe underground caverns that were kind of overlooked with the recent “behind the scenes” trailer and my speculation is for nothing. Because they sort of made it sound like the sun sterilizes the surface, but we’ve also seen our heroes take their helmets off outside…

What would the enemy want there? The secret element? Is the enemy alien or something… more familiar? How did they find the ring? Is the enemy the Wheel, the “element”, or something sentient?

I have to collect some articles before I can defend anything I’ve said, but I’m exhausted right now.
