Threat on Sanghelios... ARBITER NEEDS HELP!

See this Halo 5: Guardians Concept Art, I might know what those flying squid like wild-life are?

Originally I thought the unidentified flying objects (UFO) were in-fact the scrapped concepts for the Requiem Flying Squid, originally meant for Halo 4, yet it seems it is not…

The Requiem Flying Squid, although not used in-game, were indigenous to Requiem… and we all know how Requiem ended up after the Second Requiem Campaign (Spartan Ops). So the UFOs might in-fact be something more sinister… a Flood Dispersal Pod.

Note: The Flood Dispersal Pod was actually concept art for Halo 4.

Now why would the Flood return… why now? Where did they come from and who is controlling them?

The Flood have returned to enact their final judgement… they are hear to test Humanity for guardianship of the Galaxy… better known as the Mantle Of Responsibility. This was ordained back in the time of the Forerunners and Precursors… the Primordial, the last known Precursor and initial Flood Gravemind, had stated that “We shall return when Humanity is ripe with arrogance and power.” It seems as though with ONIs treachery, and the sabotaging of the Sangheili political culture and religion… Humanity is definitely arrogant and defiant to no fault. With the embarkment of the new Forerunner technology and Huragok… it seems Humanity is propelling itself into the next technological tier and power.

But why are they on Sanghelios?

Perhaps times have changed so drastically in the original Precursor plan, that the Flood are testing every possible suitor… Sangheili, Jiralhanae, Humanity, Forerunner, San 'Shyuum, Yanme’e, Unggoy, Kig-Yar, Huragok, Lekgolo… and perhaps also gaining biomass for a new Gravemind?

As far as where did they come from… I have no direct solution to that answer… that rests with 343 Industries. But what we do know is, there are Flood specimens on the remaining Installations (01, 02, 03, 05 (minor), 06, 07) and also some Flood inside dormant Shield Worlds. They could also be outside the rim of the Milky Way Galaxy, even further than Path Kethona, a satellite galaxy orbiting the Milky Way.

How would they fit back into the Halo Universe and the Reclaimer Saga?

Well apart from being the end test of the Precursor… for Humanity’s worthiness… the Flood have always been a central factor. The title of the franchise is named after a weapon designed to destroy the Flood, they unite the galaxy in a common cause, the Ur-Didact is connected to the Flood.

Apart from this Frank O’Connor stated that “Halo 5 is to be the darkest Halo game to date.” We know what darkness brings… fearful and dreadful moments… deaths, worlds lost… and the big-bad is winning. This type of plot technique captures the player or reader, into loosing hope and really finishes the story with a bang… upon finding their last hope.

These facts allow us to know about the Flood… but it also explains some theories…

In Halo: Escalation #8 and Halo: Escalation #9… John-117 is sent on a mission, to which after the emergence of the Forerunner, known as Didact, he is tasked with weakening the newly reformed Covenant ‘Storm’ Remnant. He is sent to assassinate Jul 'Mdama… the cult leader of the Storm… as well as a unknown traitor of the UNSC… Catherine Elizabeth Halsey… The mission takes the Master Chief to Sanghelios, directly or in-directly… and meets the Kaidon of Vadam, Thel 'Vadam. To which after their re-unification they discuss how to capture, or kill, the Didact’s Hand, and rescue Doctor Halsey. The plan runs sour as John-117 rescues Halsey, he soon learns of the Didact’s survival, and the return of the Flood… Halsey, John, Thel and Rtas… discuss how they are going to stop the spread of the Flood… with them finally coming to the consideration, that the Lesser Ark holds a unique treasure… and the promised solution from the now deceased-Cortana AI still remains. Halsey and John venture to the Lesser Ark while the Arbiter and Shipmaster prepare the counter-offensive and request re-enforcements from the UNSC. The UNSC send John’s spiritual air… Spartan ONI (placeholder name) and some Spartan-IV… to assist in any contingency… the Sangheili will encounter. The Sangheili soon discover than beneath the waters of Sanghelios lies, not a giant cephalopod… but a sinister dormant Gravemind… which has been regaining its strength since the Forerunner-Flood War. Upon the Lesser Ark, John and Doctor Catherine Halsey discover the Absolute Record with the assistance of the UNSC Infinity… it is a Forerunner Ancilla… known as 05 032 Mendicant Bias. Upon release, Doctor Halsey and Mendicant Bias beginning questioning each other… to which John overhears a possible solution to Cortana’s revival and a possible resistance to the Flood? Upon returning John, Halsey, Mendicant Bias, Cortana-2 and the UNSC Infinity they discover the wide-spread damage the Flood has posed on the Milky Way already… Doisac, Sanghelios… Earth all where simultaneously being opposed…

Now what does this theory have to do with the title of Guardians?

The sub title Guardians could in-fact be not talking about solely Humanity… but the galaxy as a whole… specific custodians of each species… Thel 'Vadam; Lydus; Terrance Hood; John-117; Didact… this would mean that the galaxy is being tested… for worthiness of survival.

Newly read information in Halo: Escalation #6

The UNSC Spirit Of Fire is found… with Flood aboard… the ship is drifting toward a unknown planet. THE RECLAMATION HAS BEGUN…

How big are the flood dispersal pods? Because to me the flying squids look like they are in the background. So they would be gigantic?
I’m not sure about this

They are about the size of Human ODST Drop Pods (SOEIV)… so comparing to the Sangheili civilian… it would match in size.

They do look similar to dispersal pods, but I am willing to call that too inhabitants of Sanghelios. You could be right though, it seems like they are flying upwards, but maybe across over the mountains.

Looks like a future a hint of flood return and future decimation of Sanghelios. It would make for interesting story.

Woah nice find! If this is true on the spoiler and the whole discussion you have said about that artwork, then Sangheilios is in trouble. This is bad and I think Sangheili fans like me are gonna get hurt. Like in the heart like bad. It’ll be sad news if this is true. Need more books! I also have to say this, was Origins 2 at the end looks like this is a spoiler without Johnson in there of course, that everyone comes together. Origins 2 reminded me on what you said and if this does happen, all Covenant and humanity will band together to destroy the Flood threat. Maybe Origins 2 was hinting us something is gonna happen in Halo 5. Lets see if this poster is right cause I’m getting that in my head right now.

Right now reading this post has my mind blown.

Oh god no, I hope this doesn’t mean the sanghelii will get wiped out…

If Oni had something to do with this I hope they pay with their lives. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did though…

Oh god yes ONI is always up to no good! They keep everything from everyone!

If I find out ONI had a hand in this, I will be very happy if the one in charge of ONI gets killed.

Then again, that won’t be enough.

Stop again with the ONI. Yes they have became quite a stigma but look at the Spartan-IIs,IIIs and IVs. Do not forget keeping Earth’s location away from the covies.

As a person who has his character that is assigned assassinations by them I am loving to say they are a great organization with dark areas. Doesn’t all organizations do it to protect?

You just replied here cause I posted this on my journal on Deviantart. ONI is known to keep secrets from everyone including the UNSC. Why you think that kid in FUD didn’t like ONI and he accessed secretive files? He saw something that ONI was keeping secret from. That file was the attack on Harvest. Also read Thursday War and Glasslands. There’s way more detail what ONI is doing to stir up trouble.

Yeah that’s pretty much the story showing up on here. Passing by and checking on what is Sanghelios has been like.

I’ve read Glasslands and didn’t have the time for Thursday war. ONI trying to make the Sangheili go into a civil war. Of course there is the ONI possibility and the crash-landing possibility with the flood.

Also your bright yellow armor is still visible like the morning shipmaster

Psssshhhh… the planet is obviously Squidhelios.

Okay, in all seriousness:
Wow… great find. I never thought of the lifeforms in the background like that. AMAZING theory.

Very well may be true, and you back up all of your claims very nicely… therefore I have nothing more to say! Well done!

> I’ve read Glasslands and didn’t have the time for Thursday war. ONI trying to make the Sangheili go into a civil war. Of course there is the ONI possibility and the crash-landing possibility with the flood.

Then read Thursday War also no flaming on the second comment ither.

Also not sure if I stated that the concept art linked in the OP… has a lot of similar characteristics from descriptions of Vadam Keep.

Vadam Keep is located in the slopes of Kolaar Mountains… the Keep is built into the Mountains and is rich with water from the peaks of Kolaar. This would explain the Keep and the further path perhaps leading up to the peak of Kolaar.

Sanghelios buildings resemble Covenant designs but also old-Sangheili architecture. And so the curvature and slight ‘Indian’ roofing designs show this.

Sanghelios is located in a tri-star system… and so the two satellites shown could be two of the three with the third being geometrically further down the planet.

Sanghelios is a comprised of dusty and redish environments… which is shown in the concept art.

A rock formation or statue vastly resembles a Sangheili… hmm perhaps its honoring Thel 'Vadam’s descendant… Ther … who re-took the State and Keep… hence why it is called Vadam. He accomplished this feat with the assistance of Sangheili exiles in the Unidentified Sanghelian Desert.

This post is about my theory and the Flood… from a story point of view this could greatly show who is ‘worthy’ and create some great characterization… and tension.

Think in Halo 3, the Flood commenced a localized infection in Africa, specifically Voi… the only thing from stopping it spreading and assimilating the whole of Earth and Humanity was… the Sangheili Separatists and the Arbiter Thel 'Vadam… Their quick thinking and glassing of the infection had saved the Earth and its inhabitants and actually allow John and some Humans to assist in the Battle of Installation 00.

So in Halo 5: Guardians… the shoes on the other foot… will Humanity, specifically ONI, help the Sangheili regain strength or watch them burn? I know for a fact, Lord Terrance Hood will attempt a rescue, but ONI maybe not? And so it could create tension between the UNSC and ONI… between Fleet Admiral Terrance Hood and Admiral Serin Osman… it would also show what Humanity is made of how they judge their morals… be a great way to introduce ONI as villians… and give the Sangheili the true value of Human alliance. This would better a lot of characters and the plot… even ones specifically not involved…

and the new character could maybe be an issue. Determines what they will be doing with him.

Has anyone notice a similarity between that armor and the Mk.VII Naomi wore, but in a sleeker and smoother version?
