Thrusters seem to be upgradable now but appear to be a pickup item like the rest. I know the majority never liked thrusters but now it doesn’t seem to be a permanent thing latched on to your Spartan and I think they will be a nice help for traversing the semi-open world.
Thrusters are the only thing I really liked about Halo 5’s mobility so I’m glad to see them return, albeit in a slightly more limited form.
I was fine with or without thrusters honestly. I think how they’re making it an ability is the smartest choice for having them return.
Thrust or bust…
I love Infinite’s thrusters. Something about them feels very smooth.
equipment is not pickup in campaign, you just switch from one to another (very overpowered I’d argue)
its great for MP, like a balanced evade from Reach.
I really really hope there will be options for custom mp that allow unlimited equipment use, on a cooldown, making it more of a permanent player trait, instead of being disposable and losing it after 3 uses or whatever. That way, one could set up a mode where everyone has Thruster Pack with unlimited uses, and if you adjust a couple other things, then you’d have something close to Halo 5 multiplayer, if people want that.
Or, you know, you could have a silly mode where everyone has melee weapons and an unlimited Repulsor, etc
I love Thrusters!
I would say the majority of people did like thrusters and I’m happy it is back at least in some form. It feels a bit weird it doesn’t not show any speed lines to indicate you are moving fast, but other than that I think you can even upgrade the cooldown or the distance of you thrusters like it is shown in the trailer so that is nice to see.
I love the new thruster, although I dislike that it is by equipment and not by default as an ability…

Agreed.
As long as they’re not a default Spartan ability in multiplayer again, then it’s fine. Plus I’m 100% sure they will be great for some crazy trick jumps, launches and glitches in Campaign.
I didn’t really care for it, but I definitely think making it as a Equipment you pick up is a good balance choice
It’s totally fine that Chief has all this kit available to him.

finally someone with good taste
Very happy they’re back.
Now, when I auto react by pressing the H5 thruster button, I’ll actually do something

I agree with this. I don’t want them to be unlimited core superpowers. That’s what Halo 5 did wrong with abilities in my opinion.
Would be better to have a limited amount and you could refill in bases/find it in the world.
Or alternatively only be able to carry one at a time.
I just hope that Jackal Snipers will take you thrusting noobs out when you attempt to poke out with it.
I really liked thrusters and missed them a lot at first in Infinite. Glad to see them back as a pickup at least.
It’s totally fine as an equipment
The upgraded thrust looks great. Feel like the campaign will be epic.
Usually on Legendary you can feel pretty weak, having to peak enemies and play very cautiously. The upgrades will hopefully make you feel like the actual Chief rather than just a normal Spartan.
