Thoughts on the weapons after tuning

I don’t know if its just me, but the weapons are not as good as they were before that tuning thing 343 did. Now with the BR and DMR for example. Both use to be 5 shots to the head and then you get the kill (Or so i think) and now the BR is 4 and the DMR is still 5. other weapons got tuning to but they just made them more useful in game and now their is more variety, which is good. Having something like that though made a lot of people just ignore other weapons and just use the BR. I mean that’s all i ever seen in any match, but what do other people think. It could just be me but that’s just my thoughts.

The weapon tuning is near spot on.
All the weapons fit into their intended roles and can be beat by other weapons in those roles while losing out to weapons outside those roles depending on the situation

For example

The CC and challenge the BR at close - Mid
The BR can challenge CC close to mid

The CC and BR beats DMR and LR close - mid

The DMR and LR beats CC and BR mid - long

Assault weapons challenge mid range and destroy at close range

All weapons are to be used in their intended roles and using the weapon outside of these roles (say trying to use the LR on a close-mid map such as abandon) will probably end in an unfavourable result

You make a great point. I did not even think of it that way, it was really simple too. Thanks.

The BR is definitely the popular go-to weapon. At least in 4v4. But it’s supposed to be like that.

In Big Team Battle, at least on most of the maps, the DMR and LR have a clear advantage over the BR and Carbine, because they can actually land shots at long ranges and so they get used more.

On 4v4 maps, the BR and Carbine have a clear damage advantage over the DMR and LR, because they have faster killtimes to make up for their lack of range. So in 4v4 they get used more.

The Automatics were always meant to be used as Sidearms with the Firepower TacPack. So them as primary weapons is fairly irrelevant.

The reason you see so many BRs and so few Carbines is simply because more people like it. It’s not better than the Carbine, it’s also not worse. They are so close to the same that literally whichever one you’re more comfortable with is the best choice.

The same goes for the DMR and LR in BTB. You will see a lot more DMRs than LRs. Not because it’s a better gun, but because more people like it, and feel comfortable with a UNSC weapon in their hands.

My only issue is that I feel BTB maps need to be larger than they are now. Ragnarok seems to be the only BTB map where choosing the DMR or LR is actually beneficial compared to the BR and Carbine. Which leads me to the conclusion that more BTB maps need more open space. We need maps that are more like Blood Gulch, Sand Trap, Sidewinder, and Highlands, and less maps that are all cluttered like Exile and Vortex.
