Thoughts on the Shop

So nobody asked but today I wanted to talk about the Halo Infinite shop and setting realistic expectations. From the start I would like to say the 343i did nothing but follow industry standards when setting up the pricing structure form the shop. As someone who has played COD and Apex, its depressing to see how much things cost and are labeled ‘micro’ transactions. I personally don’t deal with them because it would literally cost thousands of dollars to get it all so why even start.

With the community vs 343i when it comes to pricing, I feel we are missing an opportunity to bring the micro, back into microtransaction but we spend so much of our time saying the pricing in the shop is not fair without defining what a fair price would be. so, the point of my yammering will be to offer a solution.

First, we note that an armor core is free and note that a sum of specific parts define a ‘kit’, now we need to define how much a kit costs. I’m thinking $10 or 1000 credits is fair and I’d like to hear what you guys have to say, I believe it can be less. Then we assign each piece of a kit a certain percentage of the overall value based on aesthetic importance and model complexity. See list below

Helmet – 40%

Shoulder pieces-20%

Torso piece(s)-20%

Forearm piece -10%

Gauntlet pieces-5%

Knee pieces-5%

These are all arbitrary but from the list we can now say a helmet is worth 400 credits, Shoulder pad 200 and knee pads 50. You can use this to create an estimate for things like attachments and stickers. Here you can use size in relation to part of kit applied and factor in aesthetic importance. Example: you can say Helmet attachments are between 80-200 credits(why half the price? Well a good attachment can really change a helmet)

Smarter people can offer recommendations for what things like kits -for weapons and cars, and banners images should cost but I’ll drop just some of my recommendations

Coatings -100-300 credits (300 if there are some animated effects in the coating)

Charm -150 credits

I think it all comes down to Walmart or D&G; do they price for the masses and sell in bulk or keep it high for those beautiful whales.
