Thoughts on the Plasma Grenade

I think its fair to say everyone loves the Plasma Grenade. But how does it compare to the Frag Grenade in normal Infinity slayer? For me it does not. If you ask me the frag grenade is 10x better.

The Plasma Grenade has a very powerful but short radius blast. It cant bank off walls when needed and can’t be relied upon to take off opponents shields before you engage in any 1v1 battle. Sure the Plasma is still a good grenade and probably the most used to add but the frag IMO is better.

I am not a fan on normal Infinity slayer. Mainly because of Ordnances, Plasma Grendades and the fact that its not competitive. The power weapons are not easy to control when they are usually on random timers and its as easy as 4-5 kills to get an Ordnance. Sure I could play Throwdown but I am more of a casual player.

Why I hate it in Slayer (main point)
So why do I hate the Plasma Grenade in slayer? Well it rewards people that don’t deserve to be rewarded (which is why lots of people hate Ordnances). About 80% of my deaths in Infinity slayer are probably from someone who doesn’t know how to play the game (like 60% of the people that play…) and will engage in a short range 1v1 and will not strafe and miss a crap ton of shots before throwing the Plasma. At short distance its hard to miss. Sure grenades are OK for BTB (though I know allot of people that would argue with that) but honestly I think that Plasmas should be removed from Grenade choice. For me they were a bigger problem than the Boltshot before it got nerfed. its not like there isn’t regular Plasma drops anyway which are perfectly fine.

From what I have gathered from playing Halo 4, if the Plasma Grenade doesn’t stick on to your enemy or the vehicle, it becomes useless. Even if it does stick onto a vehicle does it do not as much damage as you would expect, for an example, a single Plasma Grenade couldn’t destroy a Warthog at full condition, or near such.

I too find Frag Grenades so much more useful. However, the Plasma Grenade works a lot better when taking out vehicles. But when people spawn with the damn things however, it completely ruins Big Teams as anytime you get in a vehicle are people chucking grenades endlessly. The same can be said for the Plasma Pistol.

i use them with my automatics classes. with automatics your going to be close quarters which is good for plasmas, and if you are about to die, start playing dodge ball.

I miss the Plasma Grenade from Halo: CE. When it lands on the ground, it sits there for like 5 seconds before going off. Like an early Pulse Grenade. When you stick someone, they still have about 3 seconds to react and at least attempt to get a kill back or rush into their attacker before they die. But since some people started thinking that CoD killtimes were what made Halo, they’ve been reducing the time on the grenades from going off until it’s now barely a second.

I believe they work fine as they are save for too much damage to vehicles.

In infinity slayer it may seem a cheap shot but learn to expect it, I rarely get stuck long distance or even at medium range, its usually right in my face and in situations like that I blame myself.

At the end of the day they’re bright blue and easy to spot, I would however prefer to see only one in the loadout due to their kamikaze nature, sure increase the blast radius but only one in loadouts please

I think the blast should be a little more incorporating, so those people who stick you at close range get killed in the explosion as well.

Plus the fact that getting frags in your loadouts allows you to catch some of the plasmas and pulses that spawn on the maps (at least in BTIS).

I think in general, grenades have become much less of a tactical option. With the inclusion of the grenade warning visual cue and sprinting they’ve made grenades more or less useless. I find that the plasma grenade was hardest hit. I remember that in halo 3 it provided different tactics. It was meant for sticking but if you couldn’t stick it was an effective explosive that could be used to take down shields but of course with a lesser blast radius and damage of the frag. It seems now that in halo 4 it’s heavily geared towards vehicle combat since it only takes two take down a warthog (what a joke!)
I like the idea of the pulse grenade but it needs to be tweaked to make it a more viable option

i rather use the Plasma Grenades than the Frag and Pulse Grenades.
