Granted, this is a new design for a book cover, so it may not represent the new look of the Prometheans (if they have one) ((if they come back at all)), but it’s
new and different.
Personally, I’m as torn as the first time I saw the Prometheans. It still doesn’t look very Halo-y in my eyes, and I don’t think it fits in with the aesthetic of Halo any more or less. It’s certainly more inspired by old Forerunner designs e.i. silver-grey metal with blue lights instead of the black steel and orange lights of the current Forerunner designs, but it’s not that different. It’s still a Promethean, it’s just not as red and has no floating bits around it. I think it looks reeeeally generic, like something out of Star Wars, or Star Trek, or Battlestar Galactica, or Falling Skies, or Destiny, or Mass Effect, or Stargate, etc. However, the Grenade Launcher’s getting some love, I can dig that.
But it’s a new thing and it’s there. So there’s that.
I thought it was a Promethean too, but as some people have pointed out, it could be an A.I. that has been uploaded into a larger frame, hence it having blue lights instead of red.
I like it though. There are a lot of things in the Halo universe that looks kind of sci-fi generic unless you want to put either a Covenant or a Spartan on the cover. But, honestly, they can’t do that for every single book.
The cover sort of has a model photoshoped into a sci-fi setting look to it, which is pretty popular among covers at the moment. Maybe that’s why you feel like it’s kind of generic?
But I like it. It feels kind of modern-day pulpy imo.
I agree it feels less halo-y and more like some older sci fi book series but I kinda like it.

there is a pretty good chance of this. they did get a hold of what’s left of a forerunner ancilla in the book before this. the promethean like figure we see could be that same ai. that would also explain why neither character on the cover appears hostile to each other on the cover
