The Magnum in Halo has gone through many changes and modifications. Each game it would be a little bit different from it’s last counter part, so with the most recent magnum belonging to the Halo 5 Meta I’m curious to see people’s perspective with the Halo Infinite’s “Side Kick” being more in line with Halo 2’s Magnum.
I like it, it looks nice and fit the hand perfectly unlike it’s previous design which was too big even in Chief hand so I don’t mind it.
I’m just wondering how it will feel when we have the game (Watching a gameplay video doesn’t really translate the feeling of playing the game after all)
If it was meant to behave like the Halo 2 magnum, they should’ve made it look more like the Halo 2 magnum. It needs that large trigger guard and green lights. The Side Kick looks too generic of a gun for it to belong in Halo.
I don’t like the new design/attachment that was on the Side Kick on the Xbox Showcase poster. It looks even worse than the one in the July demo. Lets hope that is just an attachment and not the base Magnum.
I was disappointed with the new magnum.
Looks like a standard Glock

I think the trigger guard missing is the only thing that really bothers me, otherwise I don’t really mind the new iteration. I also have a feeling they’re probably going to bring some old guns back sooner or later.
Is the Sidekick supposed to be a magnum? I was under the impression it’s an entirely new pistol.
I’m still trying to figure out why 343 felt the need to create a new pistol for Infinite. The M6 was perfectly fine and a rather popular weapon in H5. As for design, the new Sidekick looks like a Hi-Point pistol. For those who are unfamiliar with Hi-Point… they are extremely cheap and extremely poor quality firearms. Links to photos of both provided below:
- Halo Sidekick
- Hi-Point PistolThe M6 design was unique to Halo. Why did we need to swap it out for a generic pistol that you could find at a pawn shop for less than $200?

This. I feel that 343i needs to stop trying to reinvent the wheel every time when it doesn’t need to. Make a great Halo game than build on that foundation. I believe Halo Infinite will be that foundation and that’s why they are preparing for the long haul.
I really like the new design!

What’s the new infinite rifle look like and called?
Wouldn’t it be a trip if it looks like high point 9mm rifle.
It kind of makes sense. Each game is a different sandbox and requires tweaks to most, if not all, of the weapons. Especially the default guns you get on spawn.
It’s easier to sell a completely new gun as opposed to an old one which doesn’t behave like you remember.
I like it a lot more visually now vs the demo that’s for sure. Gameplay wise I was hoping for pistol starts again like H5 but I’m fine with BR starts too. I’m hoping the sidekick is like a 6 shot kill and feels like the H5 magnum. That way you’d obviously rather have a rifle but it’s not like you’re useless with just a pistol.
Not a big fan, but it has supposedly been tweaked since we saw it last time. Maybe it will look great now.
it makes me sad ): I love the CE magnum so much. I love the way it looks and feels, though it was def due for a nerf. But i much prefer the unique styling of the CE/3 magnum to the sidekick that looks more like a glock-19 than anything from halo.

Yeah but we’ve had pistol starts for a couple games in a row now. So i think it is nice to finally get a BR start for the first time since like, 2007.
If it looked like a magnum and was called magnum I would like it, it seems to function like a magnum, pretty smooth too, but it looks hideous.
Also before I say I like how it functions for certain, I want to wait and see if it has a scope or not, if not I’ll likely take that back.

Agreed, slap a trigger guard on it and their in business.

You think so? I felt like the design change made it feel much more halo-y. Also I believe Uny confirmed that it’s no attachment, but in fact the updated sidekick design

It’s perfect, exactly what a sidearm should be. Fast to pull, a great secondary weapon and nothing more. Halo 5’s Magnum is grossly overpowered in terms of it’s placement in the sandbox. It’s basically a pocket dmr. But I love everything about the Sidekick!

As someone who’s done extensive competitive Halo 5, I can’t stand the Halo 5 Magnum. It feels like a rifle should. There’s zero reason why I shouldn’t see people picking up BR’s or DMR’s or ARs instead of the Magnum. A pistol sidearm should never under any circumstances out-perform rifles. It makes no sense! I hope it feels just like or similar to the Gunfighter from Halo 5.
