Does anyone feel the motion tracker is too small? Tucked away in the bottom corner of the HUD? Maybe it’s me, but I wouldn’t mind altering the size or placement of the motion tracker.
I think the size is fine, but the range is too short. It should be increased to 25m.
I got used to it being there, although sometimes when playing mcc I get lost lol, but yeah range would be better at 25m
I have much thoughts on the motion tracker.
First of all it took me twenty years to realize it’s design is 50% pointless because half of that circle is showing you that which you can already see with your eyes (elevation and cover not withstanding).
Furthermore, in practice it creates this odd dependency that requires you to keep glancing at it, or worse, staring at it instead of at your reticle.
If I ruled the world I’d be play testing alternative methods of conveying the information we want from the motion tracker. What information is that?
- Is there someone within 18m of me?
- Are they above, below, or in cover?
- And most importantly, are they behind me?
We don’t need precision dots on a disc to convey this. We can do something simpler using a variety of colors, sounds and pulsing patterns to convey different messages. Additionally, these new AI companions can be incorporated somehow giving them a real tactical purpose to exist.
Anyway, /rant.
Motion tracker is fine as is. I’d have preferred the early flight version as a balance between what we have now and no radar at all, but clearly that was an unpopular decision. And everyone says the range feels short, but it doesn’t bother me. So it is what it is.
The motion tracker was fine in the flight. The only reason it got changed is because noobs complained about how they couldn’t sprint everywhere willy nilly and that this would somehow create campers? (it actually does the exact opposite)
Since people just ignored what was being talked about. HUD scaling options would be nice, personally I want a option to move around parts of the HUD since my screen cuts off some of it and it’s a tad annoying.
The thread is literally called “Thoughts on the Motion Tracker”, not thoughts on the UI. Nobody has ignored the OP, we just largely don’t have an opinion besides “it’s fine for me” regarding size or placement.
OP clarified their thoughts on the Motion Tracker. There is more to a thread than the title.
There’s more to the Motion Tracker than the UI.
Sorry
everyone has made great points and I agree with what everyone has to say. Was it Halo 3 that had the motion blips that would determine if the enemy was above/below?
But the reason I was talking about changing placement and this is most likely my game play error, I’ll be in a fight and be so absorbed into the fight sometimes will result into a back smack on me. I feel like sometimes I neglect the motion tracker ya know. I do like the possibility of another form of notifications. I do appreciate everyone’s responses
If you increase the font/text size it will also increase the size of your hud.
I set mine to large so it makes things on screen more obvious, particularly the opponents names when I’m aiming at one.
I had alot more fun in game during the multiplayer flights. When the radar was larger and could only detect sprinting and shooting. I know its not everyones favorite but i had alot more fun with that than the current system
I can use it how it current is just fine. I get a lot of use out of it even in it’s current state. 18 feet is more then enough IMO.
I think the problem is that people have been coddled with this tool for so long that they are having a difficult time adjusting. This becomes abundantly transparent when you play people in game modes with the motion tracker is completely off. Motion tracker just dumbs the game down to make it easier for bad players. But it stunts growth in players by doing the work for them so they don’t have too. Exp in quickly accessing and observing the area before jumping the in. People rely on the motion tracker to do all that and bum rush in very stupidly because of it.
I believe that the size of the motion tracker should be a touch larger. This is a challenge though of having so many pieces in a hud. Something just always sort of gets left out.
I think it’s too powerful.
