Thoughts on the Maps?

Hey everyone. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the 3 maps that we saw during the preview? I think the game plays very well and I love what I am seeing so far. I just hope that some of the maps are better than what we saw in this flight. The maps aren’t totally trash, but i hope to see more open and slightly larger maps for standard slayer game modes. Also, what kind of maps are you hoping they bring back into this game? Personally, I am hoping to see Highground return! Highground, alongside other Halo 3 and Reach maps, seem so well designed and balanced. 343, you’re amazing and thank you so much for listening to us fans!

I loved how Bazaar looked, I just didn’t like how it mainly favors the the BR when when you spawn when a MK50 Sidekick and an Assault Rifle.

I liked the one set in New Mombasa, and the Training Field one is okay too. I wasn’t much of a fan of Recharge though.

I think that these maps have a core and soul. Both have been missing from 343i maps. The maps have played like classic maps in a modern way. I think the 3 maps shown are the best maps since Halo 3 by a large margin.

The maps we have seen so far make me very excited for the game. I think they are very well designed and fun to play.

I’m looking forward to seeing what other maps they have in the locker, especially more details about HCS and the maps potentially more suited to that.

For me they look sick and play good. Halo 4 maps have variety and have a “core” ascetic, however halo 5 maps all looked the same, they have the same architecture and similar layouts, halo infinite maps have “core” ascetic, the 3 maps look different from each other.

I have to agree about Bazaar. I actually enjoyed it the most and thought it had a very unique look and feel. I only wish the map was either slightly larger, or slightly less focused on the center part of the map.

Agreed. I’m also exited to see what the community can assemble with a hopefully improved forge system!

I think the Forge system is going to be absolutely bananas and will be truly what carries this game long term. The new hardware will be able to really push Forge and it’ll be crazy what improvements they make.

I love them, they all looked pretty good and maybe can be improved on in the future. Can’t wait to see the other maps, maybe we will get one or two new ones in the next flight.

Best since H3 by a large margin is a bit of a push. They seem better than anything from 4 or 5 (in regards to 4v4) but Zealot and Countdown were great maps and Boardwalk and Powerhouse were both solid. I always thought Swordbase would of been great if there was no glass (and red lift room was more open) as top control would of been less powerful and lower floors would of been useful. If Condemned didn’t have it’s middle section and was more interconnected like a larger Chillout it could of shown potential too, maybe if Anchor 9 was larger and Reflection was just a successor to Ivory tower and not a direct copy but one can dream.
The Aesthetics on those looked nicer too.

I have hope for Infinite, but many more maps looking like Recharge is a possibility which would then add to the 10+ pile of bland warehouse / vague metro-industrial style maps they’ve done to death already.

First of all Recharge plays tight and seems like it was inspired by Prisoner which was a Halo CE map. I hate warehouse maps however this one felt far more natural in Halo. The maps for Halo 4 and 5 felt way too loose. In my opinion they had way too many dead zones and the aesthetic rarely felt like a unique Halo map. They had some good maps however I would take my most hated Halo 3 map (Isolation) over all of them.

Bazaar was a really good map, and the spartan training ground map was also enjoyable.

Bazaar and Live Fire are pretty good, but Recharge is my fav so far.
