Thoughts on the Halo 5 armour?

All of the Halo 5 armour at launch

So what are you thoughts?

In my opinion, the helmets have strayed away from modest, yet badass simplicity, to over-complicated and clunky. I mean, there are a few REALLY cool helmets that ARE ORIGINAL, but man, over two thirds (2/3) of this stuff is either been in previous games, or is just flat out ugly. They dont even have a Mark V set, which has been my favourite set since the beginning of armour customization.

I’ll compare this to Reach, where it wasn’t about how rare the armour was so that you could display it, it was about how you could put the right pieces together to make a really cool looking Spartan. But when you take that aspect away by only letting us choose a helmet and a torso, the rarest stuff better be some of the best armour sets I will ever see in Halo.

Other than that, it looks like I’m gonna be sticking to the Mark VI torso through the entire game, because it’s the only set with a belt/-Yoink- peice/ space diaper. Anything without it looks stupid to me, and that means EVERYTHING else, looks stupid to me

With so many armor sets, it just dwelled on me that I could’ve have been putting some of the best looking pieces together, what a waste is what I think. There is good selection of Helmets, I will reserve judgement for torso and shoulders; I’m better off getting a better look ingame. Still some torsos have caught my eye.

I also take back my diss on Mako, not a bad look set in general. Oh and Mk V is confirmed, but will be added later

I think most of them look pretty cool, I will probably start out with Nightfall or the Mark VI until the Mark IV and V will be released (confirmed) and I will hopefully unlock them.

The helmets are obviously the things that caught my eye, with lots of new and returning ones. I try not to let things like no shoulders, knees, and toes for customization get to me. I just want to grab that Anubis set and go to town in Warzone.

I personally find most of the armor in Halo 5 (and 4) pretty damn ugly. I mean… the weird shapes, clunkyness, and some of them just look like they wont even fit the human head.

I like a lot of the sets shown, I wish the skins were a bit varied but they’re fine.

When it was confirmed there’d be over 175 sets, I was hoping for mostly unique sets. But I see a lot of armor with 4-5 variations.

It reminds me back of the Dragon Ball Z budokai tenkaichi games where’d they’d boast how the game has over 200 characters but they fail to tell you how many characters like goku have several variations plus transformations.

I like the armour, but a lot of the helmets aren’t to my taste. It was the same for 4 when that launched but I always had like 3 main helmets that I did love and use.

Hate almost all the new armors. Using Mark VI from now until the end of time it seems.

I like them. Good art direction. Can’t wait to see an HD Image though. tanks OP

I really want my venator or deadeye back though. So it’s cool seeing those return.

I would say that less than half look bad, but most of them are just decent. The coolest designs are going to be the most popular to wear and I think we will see less variation in teams. Hopefully variations make enough of a difference.

Having different loads of armour for each type of suit is not bad but then, isn’t better like it was in each then to piece of your armour pacific then have loadouts of different modes. Sorry I just found the Reach way to it much simple in fashion and for people to have their own Spartan Armour designs then have protocel and sanction gear veration. I liked my Recruit armour with flames, but I think the system on unlocking armour could should be on you get the piece then wearing it after a time unlocks different patterns in it instead of unlock directly through rank a different pattern. Sorry it’s just the way i think.

Pretty much this, I’m going to use Mark VI until I get the Centurion body and then I’m using that with the Mark VI helmet.

I think that it’s total bull I like being able to be somewhat unique I won’t be with only two customization options also I agree I don’t like the bulkiness I prefered Reach’s armor ideal some looked like heavy bulky armor some looked like light stealthy armor.

Its just cosmetic stuff what dos it matter now if the armor give you abilities that be a different story.

Seems as though there was an awful lot of eastern sentai influence in the armor design, as though the graphics department spent a whole weekend getting drunk and watching power rangers. No skin off my back though, since I can never be bothered to change from default.

The newer helmets are way cooler looking than the ones from H4. Then, most were just ugly! Still a hater on the colored undersuit. Black is best. Needs to return. Big fan of Breaker and Fenrir!

Yea its more like 70 sets but again I would reduce it to 50 sets since a lot of them are ugly. I thought the variations would be part of a different unlocking stage like skins but they aren’t considered skins, and I thought skins would be something cool a flood type of skin, lekgolo skin, bloody armor skin, burnt armor skin etc. something that actually changes how u look, nope I was wrong. So armor customization was reduced for more armor variations. Also just realized the “space diaper” actually looks better than all these naked and flat areas in the lower torso/hips.

I think it’s alright.
