not as short as 5’s and the emotion that it had was tear jerking at the end
Iv’e been playing for 18 hours & still have 6 levels to do lol. Just been chilling and exploring, want to find skulls ffor myself
Is the rain added in addition to the finished game? I ask because I haven’t played odst in forever, and if it has new rain effects, reflections, etc. I will def do a playthrough again.
Honestly, feeling pretty disappointed.
The framerate for animations causing desynch issues between character mouths and their voice is annoying, and the dialogue really isn’t great either, you can really feel the T rating in the game. The story is disappointing just because nothing really happens, and what did happen I saw coming from a mile away.
The open world is repetitive and annoying, with nothing to really interact with. It is also annoying that vehicles will get stuck on and flip over a small rock and that they get absolutely shredded by pulse carbines and stalker rifles. The number of roadblocks and encampments the banished put all over the map makes it so that the duelist energy sword and grapple is the best way to move across the map unless you have a wasp or banshee, and even then it takes 10 minutes to get to the next objective (I’m looking at you, spire mission)
As said before, bosses are also way too tanky. And in my opinion, so are the hunters. You basically need a power weapon.
Vehicle vs vehicle combat also seems bad (except for tanks). The fastest way to win a ghost vs ghost fight is to get out and grapple the enemy ghost. Banshee dogfights are also horrible.
And a really minor nitpick, the fusion coils are a massive crutch and are literally everywhere. But I don’t care about that, it’s actually fun.
Sorry for the wall of text
The gameplay is wonderful, it really feels ‘halo-ish’, which is obviously a good thing. But until now I’m not really loving the open world as much as I hoped. Maybe I’ll change my mind as I make progress through the story and unlock more toys at the FOBs, but I hope in the future 343 keeps making more linear levels with carefully planned set-pieces.
Yeah pretty much. It was technically there on the 360 version but due to limitations it wasn’t as noticeable able. Once they ported the game to MCC they essentially fixed it.
None of the weapons you’re suggesting are correct for the situation. Use a plasma weapon for the shields, reserve the kinetics for health. I was able to defeat Tremonius on Legendary using merely a Pulse Carbine and a Skewer.
Halo wars 2 was the bar I set, cause I felt comparing to the peaks in halo campaigns like Halo 2/Reach would be asking far too much.
ODST suffers from problematic characters generally. often each character is sorta one dimensional(except the rookie who is basically just a vessel with little to no character development). Dare is a character you meet at the start, and then doesn’t really have any significance until the end. At which point(at least for me), you find yourself saying: “Your still here? I had completely forgotten you existed to be honest.”
ODST had a great atmosphere in terms of the isolation, but the idea of being an ODST falls flat when your tankier than a spartan(Stamina has the same amount of health as chiefs shield in H3 and your health pool is larger but non-regenerating).
Overall it’s pretty solid and miles better than either Halo 4 or 5. It’s clearly meant to be a “reboot” of sorts and pay homage to early Halo as opposed to continuing the convoluted direction 343 was taking things previously which is extremely welcome.
Gameplay is excellent, it’s classic Halo all around.
Story and writing are decent but there’s just a lot of baggage from previous Halo games that are hard to deal with. Characters are all pretty good. But overall the story definitely takes a back seat and doesn’t seem to be going far,
The open world gameplay idea of basically making one huge Halo CE level that you can mess around in as a sandbox is definitely fun, but can also be pretty shallow and repetitive. If you just want to grab whatever vehicle and weapons and mess around in a Halo sandbox shooting Covenant it’s great, but past that it doesn’t offer much. I’ll take it, though.
Lots of little subtle elements, jokes, easter eggs and details that are really fun. The attention to detail in general is very good even down to subtle motions the Master Chief does in the cutscenes.
I haven’t finished it yet but based on my time with it so far I’m thinking it’s a very solid 7/10 considering it released on its own with no other features.
absolutely astoundingly good. theres a big ol whiff of another particular game in it that you will probably immediately notice upon getting on the ring, but I like said game and dont mind it one little bit. unfortunately the sick armor colors you can get are only for the mark 7. but there are cool customizations for weapons and vehicles to find, and plenty of interesting Easter Eggs and interesting oddities to explore. the bosses ive faces so far range from literal jokes to why in gods name is this a thing. playing on legendary, btw. the difficulty is fair, for the most part. only a few enemies ive faced are bullet sponges.
just found out that campaign cannot be played offline and so that very much chabges my view. Just wasted £54
Legendary on CE is widely considered to be the BEST balenced legendary.
i’ve been playing since 2001 and always start on heroic, however this time i went legendary after a few trusted recommendations.
The bosses are pretty hard and so are some of the other enemies i’ve consistently been killed by everything including the cheap grunt thrown grenade or suicide run.
I’m impressed by the AI they’re very halo, especially the elites.
Maybe veering a little to the kids side with some more humour and lack of blood but it doesn’t hurt it much in my opinion
Story: Overall really superb. The basics revolve around the Pilot, MC, and The Weapon. The settings/atmosphere is definitely CE vibes maybe with some Halo 2 thrown in, you will leave with more questions than answers. The basic plot is MC versus Banished/Esharum but there is a much larger (and more meaningful) plot unfolding behind the scenes, it basically ends on a cliffhanger.
Gameplay: Impeccable. I haven’t had this much fun playing Campaigns in Halo since CE, tons of stuff to do and places to explore, lots of enemy/weapon variety, bosses are actually good in this game. Balancing is wonky but it generally plays really well.
Cons: No Co-op is a gut punch. Out of all of the Halo games that I wish had Co-op at launch this is the one. Because the game just screams as a fun exploration type game with friends. Lack of Prometheans is also pretty bad because a lot of variety and replayability is wasted without them. Even though this is not a fault of its Campaign I thought I would mention that this game would be dope with Firefight, like so many cool ideas yet they’re going nowhere because of the game’s lack of content/features.
Rating: 8/10. Its good, but barebones in a lot of ways.
I’ll try to be spoiler free as possible, but a lot of my issues with the Campaign come with spoilers… so anyways, here goes:
I’m playing on Heroic and I’m finding no difficulty with the game or bosses, as of yet. I haven’t gotten that far in the story because I’ve been exploring and collecting a bunch of things, I also killed a few of the high targets. I mostly use grapple to move around the map like Spiderman, so I haven’t gotten to use any FOB vehicles yet. The map size is decent and it looks great, there is a clear theme for the landscape and although it is the same stuff we’ve seen on previous Halos, I’m still enjoying it. The gameplay mechanics feel good too, taking out aliens is great like it was in any other Halo game.
Although fun, fighting the Banished feels very similar to the Covenant except now they are red. They do much of the same tactics except with different weapons and have more Brutes than Elites. Marines are really dumb, they die moments after conflict, and always run to pick up the good weapons sometimes dying in the process. The marines also feel completely useless. They don’t gather at FOBs or give the Pilot some company so he’ll stop crying to the Master Chief about being alone. They are essentially distractions for the Banished unless you grapplehook too far away then they become stuck standing in place forever saying things like; “got your back Chief…”
Now… this is where I already knew 343 was going to have trouble, the story line, characters, and overall writing… what is even going on right now? Did I skip over something? Is there a book or series about to be released so we can figure out how all of this crap started? I’ve been researching information trying to fill me in on the last two games and in between the games but I am completely lost with Infinite’s story right now… is 343 just abandoning all of that other stuff from the last games to retcon their mistakes? or are things going to get hinted at later? And why is the Pilot worried about going home… the galaxy is EMP’d and conquered my dude, your home is gone… you’re trapped so get your stuff together and start fighting like your god darn species is in danger of extinction… No wonder the UNSC lost the fight with kitty cat soldiers like the Pilot and the marines.
All that I know so far is: John is humanity’s Jesus and he has to make A LOT of miracles happen right now or the game is over.
My guy this is halo i remember being able to take on hammer chieftains with a PP and a BR on legendary and a few times just my fists.
These boss fights are just padding to extend the campaign’s play length, so far the only good one was the spire boss. Also the grav hammer is an energy weapon and i used the skewer and rockets when his shield WAS down and he was still over half health. The boss fights are total BS and add nothing to the story but another annoying enemy to defeat.
It’s not as good as it was made out out to be.
I mean its looks great and plays well, the grapling thing its great fun BUT once you get to the halo its just empty with enemies just grouped in small areas where events are which are pretty spaced apart. I hope when sorry if co-op is even released they allow us to change our appearance and i don’t just mean the colour but actual styles of armour - let’s face it yes the chief is iconic but his armour is seriously outdated and looks old now, time to jazz it up with bigger shoulder pads, maybe some spikes or a different shaped helmet… anything is better than that boring green armour he has been wearing for god knows how many years.
Then there is the armour lockers which contain… nothing good just skins for multiplayer - not skins for the campaign just the multiplayer which personally I will never play so there is no point opening them.
Then there is the age old halo problem of only being able to carry 2 guns and no dual wield on pistols.
The 4 wheeled bike flips constantly even if it only hits a pebble.
And finally where the hell did all the soldiers come from!?! I didn’t free any captured soldiers or assist any yet once you take a fob and then fast travel to another its full of soldiers – HOW!! The Unsc are supposed to be gone in the area, wiped out yet suddenly a whole squad appears from nowhere and moves into the newly liberated fob complete with loads of supplies? And where are the vehicles coming from that I can summon?
Sorry but it’s just I had high hopes for the game promising its best campaign yet and open world fully explore the ring yet its empty and when you zoom out on the map the playable area is smaller than I expected considering we can explore the ring it seems more like we can explore 5% of the ring and its the 5% that has nothing in it.
Like I said it looks great and feels good to play its just lacking and feels like the mulitplayer is 343’s priority.
I will now leave it until co-op arrives and then it will be more fun with friends but even then it will not be a game I keep coming back to or eagerly await my day off to play, it will be a “I’m bored” and there aren’t any new games out kind of situation I think.
Finished the game on Heroic, I loved it so much. Especially the House of Reckoning OH MY GOD. I don’t want to talk about why I like it because spoilers. But the House Of Reckoning is amazing…
Finished legendary, and like 4 mission in on an easy complete everything run.
Mechanically, games awesome, gunplay seems really fun
Bosses…awesome concept, awesome setting, awesome atmosphere. But dang that difficulty spike! Didnt hate them but just damn. Makes sense story wise i guess.
Graphics, looks pretty. Especially the forerunner structures
Overall story, it feels halo. Whoch Honeslty is what i want. I dont see it standing up to other story based games, but thats fine. Its Halo, i just want a fun story. Which we got.
Music, loved it.
Warts and all i give it a 9. Running through in easy tk get all the stuff on the map(tedious, yes. But the combat is just sk fun) then the speed run achivement. Ill do laso once guides start coming out.

few parts i am not looking forward to.
Excited to see what gets added over the years
