Halo 5’s campaign wasn’t that great. The multiplayer and custom games were really fun with me. So far, I feel like Halo 5 has the best Infection game mode out of the entire series.
Grapple grabbing a fusion coil and then throwing it into a group of grunts screaming “he’s cheating!” because I grapple-jacked a ghost and watching the collateral explosions blow up everything does not get old quickly.
Bosses are challenging but they don’t offend me as they feel a bit Dark Souls-ish - punishing but figure out their attack patterns and you can beat them. Has taken 3-4 tries each on Heroic so far, nice for the difficulty spike finding the rest of the combat a bit of a steam roll.
How’s everyone feel about the Elites? I love the challenge the higher ranks bring with their spontaneous use of active camo and the tactics they bring - sword elites feel very relevant and require use of the Threat Sensor. Looking forward to some Legendary with Thunderstorm skull upgrades!
So far the only complaints is that I would have liked to have had more varied environments - deserts, arctic, swamps, which is a common criticism on a few reviews, and that there could be more vehicle friendly areas. Oh well, maybe in a DLC (take my money, more of this PvE!!!), so far having the emotional impact Halo CE’s campaign did when I was 16.
Edit; would love to see campaign relevant challenges for further unlocks in future similar to how MCC does it, I.e kill 10 gold elites on legendary.
sigh No… No it did not.
just found out that campaign cannot be played offline and so that very much chabges my view. Just wasted £54
I may be alone in this, but I think this game looks pretty ugly and flat. Like they did not finish this and they tried to hide it behind some dirty armor and decent lighting. But it’s really noticable when you’re up high and look at the map.
Liking it so far. Took over the first island and started on the second. Found two skulls already as well as one cosmetic locker. Kind of curious as to how you’re suppose to get stuff you miss in the first possibly second level though since you can’t really go back to the ship you blew up and there is a skull on that level.
Not really a fan of the “Boss” characters though. They’re just a bullet sponge mostly and, at least outside of the Elite Boss in that place were they torcher people, aren’t really all that hard.
The Tanks controls also feel a little weird to me. Maybe it’s a change I need to adjust too, but getting it to turn sometimes has it just drive forward and backwards without turning.
Oh I agree Halo 5 had the worst campaign in the series
You aren’t quite alone. While I don’t think the game is ugly, the general style feels a bit off compared to multiplayer
It just looks like a bunch of unrendered sticks on a flat land. Compare this to the supposed “Engine” reveal from E3 2018. The game looks absolutely nothing like what they showed us.
Yes, I personally love the campaign and In excited to see more content keep coming to it afterwards. Free DLC or Seasons or whatever they will be calling it.
My only complaint is legendary feels to easy but not stupid like Halo 4&5 where the enemies were power houses high damage takers and givers.
It went back to how Halo 3 difficulty. Legendary on Halo CE and 2 just were hitting different back then.
Honestly, this is by far the best halo experience I’ve had since Halo Reach, and so far Infinity is trending to be more enjoyable than any Campaign since the first game. I’ve been spending a bunch of time exploring and collecting, but even then there’s a lot of extra flavor that makes it feel like more than just grinding for items. Each secondary location is well designed, and has in some cases some really cool local power-ups.
As long as the campaign doesn’t take a nose-dive in the second half, I’m thinking that I’ll be happy to call Halo Infinite’s single player campaign a huge win for 343. They clearly know (at least so far) how to evolve the gameplay…but still keep is Halo. They need to figure it out for MP as well…because I’m as unimpressed with MP as I am impressed with the Campaign.
A complete 180 from what they gave us with multiplayer. Don’t get me wrong multiplayer is fun. Its the lack of playlists and inconsistent hit registration that ruins the fun
I’m only halfway through the first island but I’m kinda fearing I’m going to be in the camp of “first 2 levels great, open world boring”.
First two levels I loved. Super excited. Open world does just feel like ubisoft’s normal formula. Random stuff scattered aroudn with no rhyme or reason. Assassination targets just standing around some random spot, nothing of value there, but apparently some evil dude thinks its a nice camping spot.
It doesn’t look like the performance hog it is either.
Agreed, seems like MP played second fiddle to the campaign. It’s clear that they’re trying to do something different than they did with the MP in MCC; but just never got to finish it before release. Even considering the standards of F2P and Open Betas it’s pretty underwhelming. Especially when you take into consideration that Apex Legends is a great game that was designed and released on a shoestring budget and limited dev time.
Halo deserved better!
They’re plenty fair actually, a solid strategy is required.
Tremonious rocked my world 82 times.
16 hours. According to many sources.
So far I am having a blast. It easily became my favorite game in the series, by far. It does a great job in my opinion of actually making me feel like a spartan. It’s like the closest to making me playing as the Chief feel as if I am the Chief from all the lore and how cool his feats were. It is so much fun in terms of gameplay and I am excited for the future of the game.
When they destroyed UNSC infinity in 4 minutes at the start (we did not even play that), the lore died and i knew things would get worse…i was not disappointed, gameplay perfect but without lore halo is just a shooting gallery.
I find the mombosa streets missions really boring and repetative.
That’s what drags the game down for me. The normal missions are fun but I never find myself wanting to play it again.
