Thoughts on the Campaign?

Bassus needs a major nerf.
Screw that noise.

Story missions are very good so far but the open world aspects feel very annoying and repetitive after the 2nd outpost and the searching collectibles feels like a drag and unrewarding.

The boss fights are very bad but that’s tradition lol.

They should rename armor lockers to coating lockers.

Somewhat mixed. I’ve only completed Mission 3, but have also gone around and done all of the optional activities, and gotten the collectibles, from the first “island”. The game feels very…disjointed. I’m not enjoying finding out the story through journals, and it gives me Fallout 76 vibes. It isn’t exclusively through the journals, no, but there’s quite a lot. Without them, I’d have little idea what’s happening, and even with them, it’s still unclear. The whole exploration aspect feels like Just Cause or Far Cry… I don’t know… I’m still going to give it more of a chance, but it’s everything I feared it would be when 343 first said open-world Halo.

I can’t see myself enjoying replaying this Campaign, for now, while I would happily play the mission counterparts to those I’ve completed, which are: The Pillar of Autumn; Halo; The Truth and Reconciliation; Cario Station; Outskirts; Metropolis; Sierra 117; etc. Nevermind replaying, I feel as if I’ll be dragging my feet to the end. Of course, I hope this opinion will change for the better.

Simply amazing, I’m loving the history and the world they’re offering.

Enjoying it so far, might be my favorite Halo campaign ever.

love it so far, killed 2 bosses so far, on legendary. The bosses are no joke. Actually brutal.
First 2 lvls are actually amazing lvls. Halo ring and open world is really fun, its so nice to be able to grapple anywhere you want. The halo ring looks great, the side stuff to do is actually fun and doesn’t feel like a chore.
Story wise, yeh its simple but has some deep ideas going on if ur into the canon outside of the books.

Overall im actually surprised how good it is, thought it a be decent at best, but its actually shaping up to be one of my fav halo games already. Looking for skulls btw is really fun, and they are rather well hidden.
What a great start to infinite.

Love the music and the scenery

Did I say “biggest”? I said best in my op. Although 10 hours into the campaign and I’m not even halfway done, so I would say it is the biggest imo

I am disapointed, extremely.

Bosses feel like bosses should. Challenging, but not Sniper Jackal level of BS.
Openworld is rewarding to explore, but alot of trashy terrain to traverse with a land vehicle. Would like it if more Banished vehicles spawned all over the place too.

Gameplay loop is reminisence of Just Cause 3, but the story missions do break the monotony.

I think im on the 4th main mission? Idk ive been doing the open workd stuff. But i am having a blast.

Wqrts and all, i truely feel this is one of thebest halo games ever. Yeah we need to get some things fixed in mm, but its there! I stead if making a horribke game and trying to improve it, the game is fuxking awesome! And thebwarts we can fix thise. But the gane itself i amazing.

I’m bored AF. Maybe I’m just too old but the game is easy, the missions once you hit the open world are boring. Go here save this group of marines/unlock fob/kill boss rinse and repeat. The voice lines from everyone but the Chief are cringy and the game feels like it’s been made to appease the adhd teens of the world. As a pc guy I think I’m just bored with console ports in general, they are all 3rd person/1st person open world copy pastes. I was impressed by this 15 years ago but these days I am just not entertained. I like to have to think and make intelligent decisions, not shut my brain off in order to squeeze some joy from it. I loved halo but as a 33 year old man I think I’m just too old to enjoy something made for kids. And that’s who infinite is made for, it’s a kids game. I’ll finish the campaign to see what happens to chief because after 20 years I can’t not finish the story, but I won’t come back to the game nor will I likely play any new entry in the series. Halo is not what I hoped it would become as an adult and that’s fine. On PC I have tens of thousands of choices.

Story is very lacking. I just can’t seem to care about any of the characters or the setting.

While the gameplay is solid 343’s weakness (level design) just sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s just not very fun to play through. Just grappling around is honestly more fun than the actual combat scenarios.

Genuinely feel like open world was not the way to go. We should have gotten a traditional campaign with a big picture focus and a wider cast of characters. Also the open world doesn’t even feel that good to play in. Feels like I’m playing Halo if Ubisoft made it.

Not loving it not hating it. As mentioned above I wish 343 wasn’t trying to make Halo so childish. I wish it were more serious like the original trilogy and I wish it were as gritty as the books.

Wish there was blood to ramp up the violent nature of humans vs banished.

and Legendary seems like a joke. Like why not provide skilled players with the proper challenge they desire??

If somebody finds legendary too hard thats what the other difficulties are for !

It has the soul of a true Halo game. I really like the new campaign world concept and truly find it refreshing while respectful to the things I loved about the original campaigns.

This is the 343 Halo we should have got years ago. Later is better than never though.

So far really enjoying it (not done the 3rd level yet (l, just entering the tower). My only complaint so far is that legendary is way too easy so far compared to past halo games - it feels like heroic-lite. I’m looking forward to my replay where I rush it to get under 8hr legendary completion.

Easily 343’s best campaign so far (although I get that might not actually mean much in the grand scheme of things). I’ll have to finish it before I see how it stacks up to the original trilogy and reach.

First two missions were awesome. Open world sucks imo. It’s boring to walk through a dead world. Running or driving to each mission is always the same… Collect X, destroy Y, infiltrate Z,… I love the level design of previous halo games and the first two missions in H:I

Cutscenes are not running fluid on my XSX

I’ve found a spartan soft toy or action figure. Do they have a function or is it just a easter egg?

Just found out I can’t leave the area I’m “assigned” to. I just wanted to go full RPG mode and explore the world, do all the side quests, max my gear, and THEN do the main objectives. If you try to jump across the ravine to another area, even when it shows you can mark a FOB over there, even when you’re safely on the ground in that zone, it gives you the RETURN TO BATTLEFIELD [9] [8] [7] etc countdown. So much for being an open world to explore. It’s scripted and it sucks. Let me explore the Ring however I want, 343. I’ll go to the Dig Site when I feel like it.

I’ve been having a blast, by myself lol. I’ve never played Halo co-op, but I feel that Infinite would’ve been more exciting to start with that option. By the time co-op comes out, I’ll more than likely have everything completed in this release. Fingers crossed that and expansion for campaign releases when co-op does. I could almost anticipate the excitement of exploring with some battle buddies.

Outside of that, the open world is a lot larger than I was expecting. I find myself grappling around 99% of the time, because it’s fun. My mission is to complete all of the side objectives before pushing for the main story. I’m playing in Normal, and it doesn’t seem any more difficult than other Halo games. I almost want to restart on Legendary, but I’ll finish this play through first to better prepare myself for what’s to come. The first part of the game definitely has the Halo CE vibe. I’m into the game enough that I’m not even looking for any flaws or problems the game might have at the moment. I’ll let others pick and choose what they want to gripe about. I haven’t decided if this experience has been the best so far, because I’m only really breaking the surface, but I can claim, in my opinion, Halo Infinite is more fun that Halo 4 and Halo 5. Halo 3 has been my all time favorite, especially its MP experience.
