I’ve seen a lot of people shut down the time travel idea and while I agree It doesn’t seem like it, given the timeline is probably referring to audio in the legendary cutscene. However, it does make me wonder who the Harbinger was connected with and talking to in the prior scene. The Harbinger says, “Tell them I am sorry it took so long”, and The weapon says, “the connection is old, like really old”. The only one I could think of that she could’ve been talking to would be Atriox. If so then why would the connection be old if he was in present time? Also Despondent Pyre said to Grand Edict “Time is not a construct WE can control”, Grand Edict responds with “And we cannot allow it to be theirs” (which I would think is alluding to the fact they they can control it). This also brings up the question of why would it have taken ‘so long’ if he want back in time to free them, wouldn’t this have actually been pretty quick for them? I can’t say I feel to certain one way or the other but, I 100% do not think that offensive bias teleported Chief to the future, since Despondent Pyre literally said they can’t control time. If I had to guess, when the Harbinger opened that really old connection, the energy ball around it/her functioned in a way that dilated time for its surroundings kind of like a black hole. Overall though I think it was a really solid ending and opens up a ton of possibilities for where they can go from here.
