I was very surprised Team Doubles was not in the release of the game, but I’m also stunned that it’s been this long already and still no Team Doubles. Team Doubles is part of the foundation of Halo multiplayer. It’s a favorite and loved playlist by many. I can’t see why 343 would not put it into the game.
If the issue is map size, then why not put forged maps into the map selection? There are tons of great forged maps and even re-makes of past maps that were in Team Doubles that could be played on. Such as the Pit, Sanctuary, Narrows and Warlock re-makes. Even so, the “small” maps in Halo 4 such as Haven, Adrift, Abandon and Solace could EASILY be implemented into Team Doubles. Sprint is a default in the game now, so it makes it easier and quicker to get around larger maps now so these four maps would be okay for Team Doubles.
There really is no excuse for it to not be in the game. I know for a fact it would have a good population and people would play it regularly. I know I would, because myself and a lot of other players play Doubles a lot. It’s really the only playlist I play.
It’s a huge disappointment that one of the most played playlists is not in Halo 4, along with a bunch of other playlists left out such as MLG and regular FFA. It’s going to be a let down if me and my doubles partner can’t play doubles since we have been for about 4 years now.
I feel the same way. I loved team doubles. Easily the best playlist because I think it’s the only one where you don’t always get fricken’ triple-team murdered. More skill and more convos with partners. Hands-down the best.

Then they sit at their own spawn and camp small door and big door on adrift

Also lets not forget that 343 doesn’t even know how to program non-instant respawns into slayer matches. How they are too stupid to figure this out is beyond me? but w/e. If they can’t even do this, what makes you think they are smart enough to enroll forged maps into a playlist? give me a break.

Loadouts can be limited such as loadouts in Slayer Pro are if that’s an issue. Plus, good teams can get past that. I really don’t see why they couldn’t put it into a slayer playlist. There isn’t instant respawn in CtF so I’m having a hard time seeing how they can’t in a slayer type game. Forged maps are fine if they are the right kind, especially remakes.

I’m almost certain that what will happen is that we’ll see Team Doubles appear as a weekly rotational playlist, and they will measure its success over time (ex: repeated appearances) and go from there.
Also, I’m hoping Team Regicide stays. Sure, it isn’t built for the super-competitive community, but hey, it’s a blast to play when you just want to have a game of fun… KING JOUST!

Although I urgently want team doubles back, these new Halo 4 maps lack everything past Halo maps had.
Halo 3 had maps that one would think would be too large for doubles, but they worked out fine. Think Construct and Isolation. Abandon, Haven, Adrift and Solace (Complex would be a stretch, it seems to work best with 5v5) would all be great for doubles. I’m curious how anyone can think these maps are too big/segmented for doubles (other then complex). Although, this is a thin selection, they need more. Probably from forge maps since the Crimson Map Pack might not contain any maps that could be in doubles. Apparently Crimson is a big team themed pack. They also have relay which looks like it was made for dubs/ffa. There are already some solid remakes out there as well: Wizard, the Pit, Lockout ect. I heard that framerate issues is why they haven’t put forge maps in matchmaking but I’m not sure if that is accurate. Either way, they need to sort out the issue, if it exists and implement doubles.
Not to mention this argument of camping with prom vision from Oh For is laughable. It will be ineffective against a team that knows what it’s doing. Have fun camping on solace without the incinerator. If they camp with the incinerator you can blame yourself for not obtaining it or approaching them tactically and remember each side has a sniper on Solace. Not to mention prom vision can be countered by stealth (which you earn for completing wetwork). And if your team is foolish enough to keep charging the campers without proper strategy, you deserve to lose. And who is even suggesting that Longbow would be in this playlist? It’s a big team map, why would they even consider it?
I agree with everything Arising said. There is no excuse for why it’s not in the game yet (along with a proper lone wolves playlist). I’m not sure how I feel about the fractured obj playlists. They might need to be condensed to make room for more playlists and not fracture obj players into so many different playlists. Although I don’t think it would be too big of a deal if they kept obj the way it is. I’d like to see more casual playlists like grifball, a court and gametype already came with the game. Multiteam, rocketrace and actionsack would be nice as well.
Then again there is no excuse for why h4 didn’t ship with a skill rank system, but at least it’s supposedly on the way…

Going along with this point 2 people is easier to organize than 4 people with the craziness of infinity slayer. Ordnance drops and loadouts would be AMAZING for doubles IMO.
