Thoughts on social playlist...

In my opinion the only way to have a true social playlist is to remove receiving commendations in them. I know this seems like a OOO NO thing, but think about it. Here’s my reasoning:

Removes the try hard aspect. Without commendations there isn’t that intense focus for weapon kills, big gun runner, high KDA, etc. Of course there will be try hards in social trying to earn a cool medal or make a cool clip, but removing the commendations for earning it removes the incentive to bring veterans into social playlist. Not saying veterans wouldn’t play it, I know I would play social, but once again I wouldn’t focus on that dead sprint grab this splinter nade throw splinter nade to cut enemy off bazooka push. For skilled players it would really become a nice practicing ground in which they could casually work on set ups, power weapon routes, starting stratgies, 2 minutes in strategy, coming from behind, 2 minute drives, going for two plays, and onside kicks. Social playlist need to be causal, a place for new and old players to learn maps and practice.

Saying this and know social is coming I hope it helps the ranked playlist. I hope others sense this. There is a big gap between skill levels. I can have one match where it’s white knuckled lead changing no more than 5 spread games. The right after that matches in which my team or the opposing team doesn’t get over 30. This happens every weekend me and my 3 buddies team up for slayer. We can predict the mission victory boost just about, but every now and then there’s that glorious 50-49 win or the sadness of 50-49 loss.

Anyway, should commendations count in social?

If this is an incentive to keep the “tryhards” away from social playlists, it won’t happen. To even think that social is meant for “casual players” is wishful thinking, especially when it’s based on normal competitive modes. There’s a hint as to why social doesn’t work–you’re playing “competitive modes”.

Social should be about fun and wacky modes and none of these normal competitive modes. Otherwise, people will complain.

I would maybe like to see this playlist with no fire teams allowed whatsoever, or a max fire team of 2 players. I feel like this would maybe make it less competitive if whole teams can’t join.

Good point halo is meant to be competitive and I can’t think of a more team competitive game. Maybe have social as that pancake game mode or the reaper one etc. I think that would help with population too.

I like this idea. I refuse to play slayer solo. I’m just not sure if they could afford to split the population like that.
