Thoughts on season 3?

I like the new arena maps, I like the new weapon, I even actually find the screen usable too and at first hated the idea of it but it’s fun. I don’t like a couple of the weapon combos in escalation slayer like the sword/hammer and sniper/skewer but overall kind of enjoy the mode. Feel like there’s a lot more I enjoy than dislike.

Agree. It’s been a fun couple of days.

I really like the two maps. How they play very differently.

Escalation slayer isn’t my cup of tea - but as an event it’s been fun.

The Bandit is cool. Haven’t used it enough to know for sure though.

I’m a bit meh on the new armour cores… but I like how they are different again. We’re finally getting to the stage where you can find a set up that you identify with.

Definitely more to like than dislike… and if this is what 343 can deliver every three or so months from here on… the future looks bright.

I wish there was a more dedicated Bandit starts playlist or gametype.

There’s still plenty of problems that are still around. All Season 3 gave us is more cosmetics, a DMR without a scope, a drop shield without the shield but instead a visual effect that you can’t see people in it, 3 new maps, and one horrible gametype that isn’t fun. I don’t see how this is supposed to bring people back to the game.

Issues that are still around
Disabled PC players in Matchmaking and Custom Games still isn’t a option
The Arbiter Anti Cheat System still sucks just as much as anything else that’s Covenant or Forerunner
Making custom gametypes still has issues
Desync is still a issue
Rank Matchmaking System still sucks
Social Matchmaking still has SBMM
Standard Weapon balancing is still a serious issue
Weapon Variants balancing is still a serious issue
Still No Assassinations
Power Ups still suck
Vehicles still die to fast and are unbalanced
Rank Matchmaking System is still horrible
Rewarding System still horrible
Still No Cross Core Customization for everything
No Campaign DLC or Split Screen Co-op
No new mode that’s different from the same old Halo Arena gameplay
No new sweet background besides a door
No Cortana A.I. that I can earn or buy.
The list goes on and on to point of no light at the end of the tunnel.

But I will say I’m still trying to enjoy the new season but it’s hard to even play the game when all these issues are still around.

It’s mostly good.

I like the new maps; especially with respect to how different they are from the rest of the maps in the game. Also like the edits to Behemoth.

I like the Bandit, and it was a good idea to have the first new weapon be a gun that shares a rack with the pulse carbine to add more variety to existing maps.

I don’t care for escalation slayer. It’s kinda fun but it’s only a gamemode I’d want to hop into once a day to cool down, like Fiesta.

I hate what they’re doing in quickplay right now. They’ve removed a ton of map-mode combos and weighted the new stuff heavily, so it’s not functionally much different from Arena Unlimited. I don’t really have a space to play older stuff I like, like Land Grab or Attrition.

It’s not good. 343 needs to do a better job with delivering entertaining experiences.
They have no measurable evidence to show that the players playing their game are actually enjoying it.

Bandit rifle is hard to find.
The only cool map, oasis is hard to be selected in matchmaking. I left 4-5 BTB games, could not find it before I was temp banned.

It’s the simple things 343. Don’t take offense. Maybe you guys just don’t have common sense, but are actually very very smart.

Forge stuff looks quite cool, good to see new maps, weapon and equipment.

Don’t think I’ve played in about a year. Probably still won’t play it, but it looks good.

So far it’s been mostly fun. Generally still sticking to BTB mostly, exp now that I finished the free 10 tier pass. I need to find out where the Bandit spawns on each map so I can use it more though, but from what I have gotten I do like the weapon a lot.

Shroud Screen, eh… It’s ok I guess.

The maps are fun, Oasis is definitely my favorite of three, with the level that looks like it came out of Campaign to be my least favorite of the bunch ( bare in mind, I do still like it, just don’t prefer it ). Oasis has a nice variety of ways to go about getting things done.

I do wonder why they changed the order flags spawn in that one BTB map though, with the larger turret in the middle, the downed pelican and the turrets you can jump into. Looks like they reversed the order the flags spawn now. But I like the inclusion of the Banshee that regularly spawns on the map as well and I have to say… Was the Banshee Buffed? I get more done before it’s shot down now-a-days. Got two in a match and scored like 8-10 kills and 5-10 assists playing defensively in CTF matches.

Wasps still kind of an annoyance though. I personally don’t think they should be able to do this:

Whiling being shot at by 5+ Spartans. They’re a little bit too durable with how fast they can melt Spartans down IMO. They’re significantly easier to use then the Banshee too thanks to hovering and straight shooting rockets.

I’ve been enjoying it a lot so far. I really like the bandit.

I wish they’d also update the Waypoint app to include the new Blind Fire medal and game mode.

Chasm:
This map is way to hated. As a social map this is fun unique and moves really well.

Cliffhanger:
I though the map would be too big but it actually works really well. The map in my opinion is one of the best designed and has pretty good weapons spawns. Reminds me a bit of a reach map. Also it seems to have story implications so I want to see were that goes.

Oasis:
Haven’t gotten the map once.

Bandit:
This is probably better than the BR. Not only is it awesome it close range it shreds at medium and semi long distance engagements. Defiantly love this weapon

Shroud screen:
Though this isn’t the most amazing thing ever it is really fun to use and can come in handy is specific situations. Though I do notice in maps with sword and hammer it is usually bad if you aren’t the one with the sword or hammer.

Music:
The new season 3 music is so awesome and I feel like they need to do things like this more.

New armor:
I think they nailed it with the armor. The new futuristic fracture core is by far one of my favorite fracture cores and the new Mirage core is a nice nod to the ghosts of onyx one of the classic halo novels.

Underperfomance system:
You all know the system wasn’t the only one telling me I did bad.

Overall I would give this update a 9/10 for all the awesome content but some annoying bugs and glitches. I really feel like if they get that stuff down the game will be a 10/10 eventually.

I like how you can now customise your Spartan while searching for a match.

I like the Mirage/SPI armor, but do wish a few things were considered.

  1. More options for Helmets, my favorite one by far currently is the default one lol. Couple of them look to similar to the default one too IMO.

  2. I still wish there was an option to have the Armor coating apply to things like the chest pieces. Going for a Covenant Themed Spartan, I want to bulk him up, but all the chest pieces are Grey and I feel it kind of ruins it. Not to mention they put the Emblem on the chest, and every chest piece covers that up except like, 2 lol.

I think Season 3: Echoes Within⁶ is a great update for Halo Infinite. The new maps are really fun and diverse, and they fit well with the Arena and Big Team Battle modes⁵.

The M392 Bandit rifle is a blast to use, and the Shroud Screen equipment item is more useful than I expected³. I also enjoyed Escalation Slayer, which is basically Gun Game with Halo weapons⁴. The improved effects on vehicle damage show that 343 Industries is listening to the feedback from the community³. The particle effects look better too, but they could still use some work on explosions and other VFX.

Visually, the game feels like it got an upgrade, but I’m not sure what exactly changed. I also noticed some changes in some of the weapons. For example, I feel like the Pulse Carbine is more effective now, and the Mangler sounds different or hits harder. I can’t quite tell what they did. I would love to see more weapons added in future updates, both classic and new ones.

Some new vehicles would be nice too, like the Mantis or something similar. I also think it would be cool if we could choose our starting animation, like we can with our victory pose⁴. 343 Industries shouldn’t be afraid to fix mistakes like the Drop Wall. Just vault it and bring back an updated version or a combined version of the Bubble Shield. Overall, I would say this is a huge step in the right direction for Halo Infinite.

Im liking everthing about season 3 Seriously. =] I would also like to see the Neith Helmet be applied to the Mk 7 core so I can put cat ears on it. =]

They did a good job with some of the new maps. I still think they should prioritize getting a PVE mode out the door, this game needs something that is focused around team-work.

My first thought were “I waxed my speedo line for this?” but actually I like it. When it runs smooth it’s fun. I got dropped from the game about 10 seconds from a victory in ranked so that sucked. the cosmetics are cool but I’m happy with my season 2 spartan so I won’t be changing. The bandit is a little too slow but has power. The maps are good. Not a huge fan of chasm but it’s playable. Overall I’d say if the performance issues were fixed it’s a good update and should be a good season if they get it running right for all players. And no I don’t own a speedo

Ranked and most quick play I think was supposed to be based on teamwork but the problem is people choosing to lone wolf it and also no mics to be found so communicating is hard at best. That’s why put together squads with comms usually mop the floor against the randomly assigned teams. if you’re looked for team cooperation I’d check the looking for group posts in the x box Home Screen.

I agree, Less Vk Commandos and more Bandit Rifle placements.

Worst thing about S3 (so far) is the implementation of Elimination in Quick Play and Bot Bootcamp.

In social there are already huge skill gaps within matches. But this mode also makes it so that (especially the weaker ones obviously) can’t even play, since dead is dead (reviving is pretty rare since it costs a lot of time) and thus the lesser skilled players are just watching the screen for the most of the time and not even being able to play… Who plays a match of Halo to not be able to play?! This is also why this mode has huge amounts of quitters, because people are in a match to play, not just to watch…

And in Bot Bootcamp there is an additional issue: people play that to just sit back and relax (to be super casual). With this mode that is impossible, because you have to sweat to get a single kill, otherwise all bots are already dead. It beats the whole purpose of Bot Bootcamp… Even in Bot Bootcamp where you normally see low numbers of quitters this gamemode has huge amount of quitters, because people hate this mode…

This need to be taken out of Quick Play and Bot Bootcamp ASAP!
I have no problem on this mode existing for the select few who want it, but most people don’t like it because of the heavy negatives (large amount of time of non-playing time) and it only makes huge quitting problems. This mode is just suitable for QP and BB.
