Thoughts on One Flag in Halo Infinite (mostly negative thoughts)

So, I just got done playing a match of One Flag in quickplay and, right at the beginning of the match, all three of my teammates quit the game. I believe this to by quite illustrative of the quality of the game mode. As it stands now, One Flag is not fun. The defense on Launch Site simply has too great of an advantage. Sightlines are too long out in the open and back corridors are too easily guarded. Nearly every time I’ve had the displeasure of playing One Flag the game has ended in a draw because no one can seem to get to the flag. I don’t believe this is a case of a lack of skill on my or my teammates part (though I’m certainly not the best Halo player, far from it) given that the attacking team always (with rare exception) gets shut out and the game ultimately ends in a draw.

Anyways, that’s my two cents on One Flag!

I’d say it’s a problem with the map for the reasons you mentioned.
I usually prefer One Flag to normal CTF on other maps.

In my experience almost everytime the flag will be capped. The team that fails to do that even 1 time loses.

Problem with that map is also that once you grabbed the flag, it quickly becomes irreparable for the defending team, since you spawn behind the flag spawn and there are no good vehicles for the defenders (only 1 mongoose), so there is no way to gain on the carrier, since the attacking team have an worthog and a ghost. I usually grab the ghost and easily pin the defenders down in their own base.

One flag was always and still is one of my favorite gamemodes. I love the intensity. Nothing is more satisfying than outplaying the defenders and capturing the flag in the last moments.
This seems like a map related issue to me.

However, this is how these types of gamemodes are supposed to be. (One Flag CTF, One Bomb, Territorries)

-The attacking side has better vehicles & weapons (on their path)
-The defenders usually have the high ground

Teamwork is required on both sides.

There is a mode called “NEUTRAL FLAG!” ( Still Not Released By 343i ) Why? who knows!! It’s awesome!! The flag is in the middle map. Then both teams have try to get the flag and take it back to your base to cap it. It’s fun :heart_eyes_cat:

Sound alike more of a map problem than a gametype one. Personally I find one flag on Launch pretty good, especially if you can coordinate a warthog and ghost run.

I actually prefer one flag over other variations. The map may be busted for this game mode, but I like the game mode itself.

1 flag in Infinite sucks… because the maps suck. Bring back Zanzibar.

I agree with the thoughts here re: the map being the problem, not the game mode. One Flag is great in theory! I guess I worded my thoughts as a complaint with One Flag because Launch Site is the only One Flag map, so they’re somewhat inextricably tied in my mind, at least until they bring back Zanzibar

My play group and I do this for every time we are placed on Launch Site in general. I think the game just ends and the other team get an automatic win when all four of us are gone.

Personally, I’ve always hated One Flag. You either sit in one ditch and shoot at anything that moves that’s a different color…or you storm said ditch doing the same thing to obtain the shiny nugget in the ditch.

Launch site needs to be binned in general.

Oke flags timer is atrociously small.

Yeah, as soon as the attacking team gets their vehicle to the bridge by the Active Camo, which is possible after your team has been wiped, you’ve pretty much lost that round.

It’s not the match type, it is the map that is the problem. Launch Site is a perfect example of good concept, but poor execution.

When 2 enemies quickly get the vehicles the match outcome is usually determined at that time. A lot of players are leaving Launch Site matches before the match begins because of this problem.

If i could pick up the enemy’s weapon it would more fun, that’s all it needs
