Thoughts on ODST

I thought ODST was really fun and a great experience, but it was different; thoughts?

It was pretty good for what it was, you can clearly see Bungie were experimenting with a quasi-open world setting in preparation for Destiny, but in my opinion, ODST did it better (that’s not saying much though, Destiny’s open world design is awful). The game itself is pretty short but it was, for the most part, a memorable experience centred around putting the player in various unique scenarios. I feel like the run speed and jump height are perhaps a bit too high for playing as a supposedly normal human instead of a super soldier, but what they did to make the player feel weak is admirable. The narrative, while not mind-blowing, does do a decent job at getting you invested and there’s some nice intrigue sprinkled throughout the game too.

In hindsight my biggest issue with the game is how quickly you run out of ammo for your silenced SMG and pistol lmao.

I agree with the ammo, I ran out in both after killing a couple grunts and two brutes

It was a fantastic game and a breath of fresh air. Being able to play as a more human ODST really changed the way the game felt because you weren’t an invincible, super soldier Spartan. I really loved the game

I thought ODST was fantastic! I love the city warfare in Outskirts and Metrpolis on Halo 2. Then getting an entire game based off of the events directly after those 2 missions was awesome. I really like playing as a regular soilder, because we are so much weaker and it makes the game more challenging (and the enemies a lot bigger). The only thing I would have changed was getting a few missions where we would get to fight some elites as the ODST but how they showed the dead elites through the story was also interesting
