Thoughts on New Waypoint?

It’ll definitely take some time getting used to, but I like it.

Honestly, So far so good. I agree with the mobile version being cluttered on busy though

So they say…I’ll believe that when I see it.

No, that’s not how discourse functions in my experience.

I like it a lot more then the old one though I’ve barely used this site sense I stopped playing Halo and Xbox in general around 2016 but now coming back to the fight with all the ports to PC they’ve been doing. Very exicted to see where they take the franchise next in Halo Infinite!

Also, it says I can post images and links now, but I can’t…so for a person who is trying to recruit new members, thats super awesome…

Will definitely take some getting used to. A lot has changed from both a visual and functionality standpoint (I think).

Kinda curious what is going on with profiles currently. They seem oddly bare. Social media profiles aren’t appearing even when filled in. Some of the service records are blank (also HW/HW2 missing makes me sad).

Love the new look though. Old Waypoint looked a bit dated.

If you believe this to a be bug I would file a ticket with Support, so that they can be made aware of any issues. This is completely new site, and speaking as a professional QA Tester, Bugs definitely get through.

Posting links is disabled for regular users at the moment. Images you can probably expect to be kept disabled.

It’s completely broken on iOS Safari which is a ridiculous oversight.

Feels worth mentioning that the Waypoint team has talked about bringing stuff over before, and that it will take some time. Forums especially are kind of a focal point, with 7-10 years of activity. This redesign is to better streamline the functionality of the Website, the forums, customization, and build the framework for a website that is going to grow with Halo Infinite. Legacy Waypoint was built over 7 years ago, it honestly did not age very well, and the design screamed Xbox One and Halo 5 which is no the aesthetic that 343 have created for Halo Infinite, and Halo in general going into this new era.

Seems decent. But I want my legacy Service Records to actually work. My Halo 2 stats show, but 3, ODST, and Reach show nothing.

I have been a fan of the new Waypoint since I got to look at during the first Halo Infinite flight. I am liking how on the forums you can see how many people have visit a post. I also like the scroll bar on the right side. It is also cool to see that it tracks when someone is replying to the forum. I also like the states of how many views, replies and how it tracks how many times a person visits the post. The look of it is very nice. I like their choose of color for the background, text and bars. It has a Halo feel to it. The old waypoint felt like a stander website. I do miss my old badges though.

I think the Legacy Stats are still a bit wonky at the moment. I know for a fact that H2 Stats are probably fine since they are static numbers that haven’t been updated since 2010. However Halo 3, ODST, and Reach, all have live servers still and have to track somewhat accurately. This feature wasn’t working well recently and imagine that it needs some for work for this new version of the site.

I admit I was curious on that aha! Was trying to make some posts clearer with links and that failed aha! Good to know it wasn’t just me imagining stuff! :+1:

Wow, this blew up.

I know I said this at the start of the post but I really do feel like this looks so much better than old Waypoint. The old site felt like it used the same design language as Microsoft in 2015 did. Which if you’re in the business of selling operating systems or business software was fine.

But selling experiences, entertainment? That requires a look all it’s own and I’m glad 343 have given this new site just that.

@spam8358 if you are talking about the forums they seem to be using a open source forums site called discourse

Ahh, so some things remain the same. :slightly_frowning_face: Emojis now though. Yay

It looks better overall. However, I really don’t like the news section on PC. It looks like it was designed for mobile. Everything is crowded to the center, which is only slightly weird (I will probably get used to it), however, the text is heavily left aligned and has a weird gap because the images reach farther right than the text. This looks really bad. On mobile, it actually looks great and this doesn’t seem to be an issue. On a good note, the forums seem better than before, but I didn’t use them a lot previously.

Can you be more specific here?

“It’s broken” isn’t constructive and has nothing we can action/respond to.
