I love lens glint.

It’s that “oh no”-second before you get a bullet through the brain.

Or at least that’s how it happens if the sniper is any good.

Here’s my issue with lens glint:
If the weapon it belongs to has 1 shot potential, yes it deserves the glint. If it doesn’t no glint at all please and thank you.

BR and Commando, ESPECIALLY THE COMMANDO, doesn’t need lens glint. And in fact, the Commando is already suffering without lens glint screwing the user as well.

I agree. One shot weapons should have a glint. But only at the BR level. Not the current, incoming Death Star blast, level.

Commando already has a very small glint.

I’m fine with lens glint but, much like everyone else here, weapons like the Sniper Rifle, Shock Rifle, and Skewer? Sure. Commandos and BRs? Nope.

It should’ve never left Call of Dooty

It’s too bright on some weapons. I can’t even see the person behind it

It was in Battlefield before that. But yeah it’s crap and has no business in Halo.

It sadly does have business in Halo if you think about the fact that they’ve been developing a Halo BR for 2 years and how little content there is for the base game.

Just think about it, why would they implement scope glint in Infinite?
Infinite’s maps are all pretty small with usually enough cover around except for the few very long sightlines on some maps. Even BTB maps to some extent are actually pretty small/closed off in the actual spots where you fight people.

Ontop of that the game has a relatively long ttk, regenerating shields, and if you do die respawns and a way to tell where your enemy was after death. It doesn’t need glint.

Scope glint was made for the super exciting mode where you loot for 30 minutes and then get caught out in the open and shot in the head and sent back to the menu.

Hate it,
The Glint really REALLY subtracts from the power of Power weapons they appear on.

Under normal circumstances,
A decent sniper would beable to Eek out 4-8 Kills before the guns needs to be chucked, if they land all their shots. 8 kills if all headshots, 4 kills if only body shots.

The one major benefit that the sniper had is that its a 1hko at any range, provided you can land the shot.
The fact that now the enemy can see that you HAVE it from across the map destroys the fun of using it.

In older Halo games, the first shot is ALWAYS suprising.
when playing in a team, watching one of your team mates get their helmet blown off is a really intense moment.

You all scramble for cover, because the gun leaves an extremely obvious smoke trail.
People using their brain are given the opportunity to:
-Run for cover
or
-Return fire to prevent the sniper from scoping again

It really just kills the power of the power weapon,
Where it use to be a pretty fun pick up for a person at any level,
Its now only really useable if you waste your life practicing to use it well.

I dont mine the glint idea but is needs to be MUCH less bright. Right now its way too bright. It should still take some skill or team coordination to call out a snipers location.

Another garbage mechanic from other shooters shoehorned into Halo. 343 is creatively bankrupt.

Even on a x40 sniper scope in battlefield it was not that bright, i cant even zoom without someone descoping me

After seeing this poll 343 decided to add glint to all weapons, grenades, vehicles, arms, and helmets in season 3

Long range on a BTB map? Sure. It serves the function of putting a warning on a player with a scoped weapon.

On a 4v4 map? Turn it down! It’s too big! I think it’s the sniper with the big yellow glare that sometimes literally engulfs the entire player and I can’t see their body properly.

From a game design perspective, I think it singles out players with more powerful and longer range weapons. It being on power weapons means that the first person to get shot with the first bullet still gets warned that someone has a weapon that can kill them instantly. I think that can make for a nicer experience but it’s a shame it comes at the cost of making the sniper more intense to use. I think it fits in terms of tone because the outlines alone give even couch controller players the ability to spot any enemy from afar- something that games like Battlefield have had to deal with for a long time.

When I use the sniper I try to stay unscoped until I spot the guy I want to shoot. It really changes up how I play with the weapon. I do like that… but it feels like I’m playing with a disadvantage. That’s kind of weird but I don’t mind.

Players already have scope glint. That’s what the outlines are for!

Agreed, it would be a good mechanic but it’s blindingly bright. It makes it difficult to pinpoint the enemies position because the light just messes your sight up aswell.

It needs to go. It somewhat understand it on the S7 Sniper, but it makes zero sense on any other weapon like the Skewer or the red plasma rifle I can’t remember the name of.

I can get behind but it covers up their entire body you like to take an extra second to find their head

I’d like the glint, if it were glint and not the bat signal.
