I was wondering that too. Although it appeared as a game engine demonstration, I like that it appears almost like a classical halo game, just with a few touch ups.

Eventually the community will break down the morse a code and those icons in the rock, however it was a good announcement, but I’m nervous, people say this new Halo can bring back the franchise to their old glory days, the problem is, people sayed the same when Halo 5 was announced, and all we know how that ended, also the battle royale shadow is still out there, and I hope this new Halo game get rid of that, the battle royale is not bad, but Halo must not follow tendencies, unless they want destroy the franchise like they did with Halo 4/5
I think this is going to be an interesting game, but I wonder when we will see a full return to the Halo 5 story. Since they said this is going to bring a new focus and series for Halo… is Halo 5 story going to be left on a horrible cliff hanger? I know it had it’s mix reviews but theirs nothing worse than being left on a cliff hanger like Halo 5 left us off on…

Can’t see them doing that. I think more likely this trailer will turn out to be a teaser for the game engine, using a setting and characters that are familiar to everyone.
Or a combination of the two and this halo ring is where the story from Halo 5 leads them. Would be kind of nice to get back to the setting we all know and love and strip out all the conspiracy junk.

I’d be beyond shocked if they did that. Unless they were to do an entirely separate proposition, perhaps based on an open-world mechanic, meaning it was just a character we know in a setting we know, this would be mental. There’s a whole universe - literally - of lore and story for these games, and to jump ship half-way would be insane. The Chief can’t be in two places at once. His past and present as they combine with the halo rings, are mapped out in pretty frightening detail. No realistic way they can just abandon Halo 5 and go to a clean slate.
