Thoughts on Halo Infinite Campaign Overview?

For those who don’t know already 343i just released a campaign overview on YouTube for what Halo infinite will look like in December. I’m honestly impressed. We see some familiar scenes from the 2020 game overview, but upscaled and detailed. Thank you 343i, you have pulled it off. Fellow Spartans, go look it up on YouTube, you will not be disappointed.

Here is the link to the video. Paid half attention to the video and admit it peaked my attention. Honestly want to play it day one now.

Right?

I think I have never been so hyped for a game from what I’ve seen. I cannot wait! The games graphics look improved and the gameplay options look endless! Man, I think 343 have finally pulled it off!

Really liking the look of what is to come. You can tell they worked hard to prove that the launch delay truly was put to good use. The graphics are looking so much nicer.

Yeah, the Halo Infinite campaign overview looks really good. 343 Industries did a really good listening to the feedback from Halo fans especially when it comes to the campaign levels in Halo Infinite. At the same time, I am also very happy that they fix the animations, visual effects and graphics in the Halo Infinite campaign levels. They look so much better now.

its awesome

One of my favorite parts:
Chief: (to marines) “You’re safe now.”
(marines get in warthog)
Chief: proceeds to drive of cliff.

Another one of my favorite parts:
Narrator “and returning favorites.”
(shows C R A I G)

Overall, it was great. The open world really looks great. I kind of gives off an Assassin’s Creed vibe, with the map and the targets. I really liked the vehicle pads and the boss fights as well. The graphics have improved a lot and the story looks really good.

I -Yoink!- for craig

Any concerns I had were wiped away after watching the campaign overview video. I am completely hyped and just need it to be December 8th already.

It looked pretty cool, but I’m still bummed out I wont be able to enjoy it co-op with my friends. Oh well, at least multiplayer was fun.

Such an improvement from last year’s demo

Love the Craig joke and when chief drives off a cliff with saved marines. Every thing else looked good, when Jega the elite that scary looking one appears and the red energy sword looks super cool. It also looks like h2a. But we will riot if there is not a achievement for killing Craig that is worth 100,000,000,000 gamer score, or just 50 gamer score. You get 50 if you kill Craig the same way in 2020 e3 demo. Only 10 if you kill him the normal way.

holding comments until the real campaign is out in december

I’m happy with the trailer in regards to everything except for the detail that someone starts to speak in an advertisement fashion about the game after 1 minute and 8 seconds. For me, I would instead prefer if 343 would have left the details that got spoken out explicitly and instead have these elements conveyed implicitly through visual and audible elements in the trailer.

It was worth the wait for another long year

Live game so until I know if it’s offline playable I wont commit on it. Love being online with games because of how that can enrich the experience at times but not at the expense of potentially not being able to play the single player down the line if servers get pulled. We shall see but we all know that servers are pulled all the time and if the campaign is tied to them purely to access playing then that’s hardly good is it

It looked decent, but it didnt really answer any relevant questions:

Whats the campaign structure? How big the world really is? How much focus will the story get in comparison to sandbox moments? How much variety will there be in the environments? The trailer overview seemed like a nice bit of gameplay, although im not a fan of enemy outposts by design.

Visually it looked decent, a bit drab and over-cluttered. I thought they were going for a cleaner aesthetic, like the 2018 reveal.

I’m really heartened by the strength of the Sandbox on display! It’s impossible to overstate how integral and core that element is to great Halo. The ability to utilize that strong sandbox in more unique ways than ever before is very exciting. There are some outstanding questions IMO as to whether or not the more open world design will really be a net benefit for Halo, but I’m fully onboard with giving it a shot. The Graphics have also obviously benefited from some TLC since last year. The Digital Foundry guys continue to rag on it, but at some point I think that basically boils down to whether an individual player goes into Halo Infinite expecting a bleeding-edge photorealistic game or a stylized “Halo-y” look and feel; most longtime fans obviously fall into the latter category, and I think the game is killing it in that regard.

Story wise, though? I’m probably at a 7/10 for it. The Weapon continues to seem a bit too innocent/bubbly IMO; I know she is likely supposed to be a strong contrast to Cortana, which that personality certainly accomplishes- however, I’m having a bit of a difficult time accepting that she’s even based on Halsey at all based on how naïve and chipper she seems to be. I understand that Cortana and The Weapon are divergent of Halsey, but my understanding of the lore is that they’re basically built on the “stem” of her core personality/base of knowledge (if anyone has a credible explanation to the contrary, I’d love to hear it!). Cortana’s personality has always felt accordant to that idea, but again, I’m just not seeing it in The Weapon. That’s a red flag for me, considering how important it seems like she’s going to be for the narrative.

Despite that, though, The Banished continue to please! I haven’t been this excited for an enemy faction since Halo: Reach’s menacing and relentless interpretation of the Covenant. Escharum just works as a “nemesis” for Chief, too, considering the strong contrast in personality between his “COME AND FIGHT ME, DEMON!” attitude and Chief’s no-nonsense, dutiful soldier “Finish the Fight” demeanor. I’m loving the one-sidedness of their rivalry, as Esharum clearly feels he has something to prove by defeating the legendary Master Chief, while Chief seems to view Esharum as “just another target”. Can’t get enough of that dynamic!
