Now this isn’t a post discussing how the wraith/banshee needs to be nerfed/buffed, it’s a post about the design of each vehicle in Halo 5. I personally dislike the red accents on each, as I think it makes them look less “battle-ready” and more like a race car, or toy. No past Halos had these accents, and that made the wraith and banshee look better, a more simplistic feel. The ghost doesn’t have these accents and and looks awesome in Halo 5. I really liked the wraith/banshee from Halo 4, and basically all Halos except Halo 5. Alright, that’s all I have to say.
All Type-26A Banshees had red markings on the thrust nozzles found at the rear of the fuselage.
I personally like how the Type-54 Banshee and Type-58 Wraith have the red markings. They kind of remind me of how model aircraft generally have “Warning” markings and such placed all over the vehicle.

I get where you are coming from, but it doesn’t make sense that only the new versions would have these while none of the older versions would. If you need reference: http://news.microsoft.com/stories/halo5/_media/images/02-history/halo-5-wraiths.jpg

I’m fairly certain one reason the new designs have the markings is because in-universe they seem to be designed on the Sangheili colony of Hesduros, which seems to have significantly different design philosophy compared to the Covenant. Hesduros designs seem to be more organic and elaborate, while Covenant designs were simpler, but elegant in their own way.

The new Wraith is made on Sanghelios by Lodam armoury. So is the ghost.

Oh. In that case, I’m fairly certain the designs were intended to fit in with the Hesduros-based styling used by Jul 'Mdama’s Covenant. Or the original design was created on Hesduros, then transported to Sanghelios for mass production.
For me, Halo 5’s Wraith and Banshee are FAR better than any other versions before. The banshee looks like a heavy powerful vehicle now and the wraith finally doesn’t look like a vacuum cleaner.
The Halo 5 “covenant” vehicles are actually just sangheili vehicles. This is the first time we’re seeing sangheili design sensibilities in technology. It makes sense that they would add fierce, almost tribal red accents to try to make the vehicle more frightening.
Halo 5: Guardians is actually a really cool game, yeah 343 Industries added and changed and removed some things which was confusing and not cool. For instance, no split-screen and the story is mostly based on Spartan Locke. And when I got the game I said to myself “How are they just gonna randomly change it from Master Chief to Spartan Locke”, and when I found out there was no split-screen I started to regret getting Halo 5: Guardians. But just because of some little changes like the design of the Banshees and Wraiths, you can’t dislike the entire game just because of those little changes. The Halo 4 Battle Rifle sounded like a toy just as well.
I actually like the new designs of the Covenant vehicles.

I never said I disliked the whole game. I LOVE Halo 5 (unlike most of the community), I just dislike the minor detail
I think it’s obvious my opinion is unpopular, but that’s all it is, an opinion, and I appreciate everyone else’s thoughts and opinions also. I’m just glad we can come together and talk about Halo as a community. Thanks to everyone for sharing their opinions

On the contrary the banshee is based on Sangheili designs dating back to the first models that appeared on Sanghelios. The designs are actually inspired by wildlife on Sanghelios and other colonies. The banshee is based on the 'sKelln, a sky predator on Sanghelios. Classic Sangheili design is biomimetic.

Yeah, you’re right. Isn’t the Type-57 Phantom’s design supposed to be inspired by aquatic predators native to Sanghelios? Outside of the lore though, I’d say that the new designs were intended to fit better with Jul’s Covenant designs.
Super squishy
The new Wraith looks like horrible. I don’t mind the markings but it seems so small and I find it impossible to hi-jack then now. (Maybe I am doing something wrong) but can’t board and take over controls for driving and Plasma Cannon just get the “Press a button to plant bomb”.
Hijacking a Wraith with a good teammate and wiping out the waves of Covvies in Spartan Ops was some of the best fun I had in Halo.

Not really. The Phantom is inspired by an aquatic predator native to either Sanghelios or another colony. You can see eyes and a beak on its front part. As for the designs they were designed to look Sangheili and different from the San’Shyuum designs of the original trilogy, symbolising the Sangheili’s independence from the Covenant.

You actually don’t have the ability to hijack it and steal it. It’s not possible. Also the targeting of the Wraith is so bad you can’t actually understand where the shot will land.
The Wraith in Halo 5 is actually My favourite. Banshee is a beast as well.
How to hijack a wraith in halo 5? Has anyone tried it in campaign? Also, are the anti air wraiths hijackable?
