Thoughts on Halo 5 MP

I’m just gonna give you guys a quick summary of my thoughts on the Halo 5 beta so far. Im going to start by saying that I think 343 is heading in the right direction with H5. Now don’t get your jimmies rustled, I too hated where it was going at first. But I started to think about more and I admit I’mm starting to like some of the additions/changes, and I repeat SOME. First I’ll start off with what I don’t like.

WHY THE HELL WOULD 343 MAKE THE HEALTH SO LOW??? seriously, what were they thinking… 3-4 BR bursts to kill an enemy… They tried this in halo 4 and they were forced to change it due to so many complaints. What would ever make them think our minds have changed? Especially if we went from halo 2 anniversary to halo 5 beta… no doubt its going to piss players off. Another thing I’m not a fan of is the ground pound, and know I’m not alone. I’m not even going to explain why its a -Yoink- idea… Just get rid of it… BEFORE THE BETA. I also don’t like how fast sprinting is. (keep in mind that all we have seen is short gameplay, so it’ll be hard to tell certain aspects of the gameplay until the beta releases. Same goes for most of the topics in this post) Sprinting in halo should be medium paced, even though I rarely use it because it usually lowers your weapon and causes a small delay for when you want to shoot, because you have to wait for your weapon to raise. I’m also a bit iffy on the stabilization ability, it seems like it could be overpowered if used certain ways. Charge, another new ability should be done away with. With charge you can sprint and then charge into an enemy and doing massive amounts of damage I’m guessing… That not only takes away a core mechanic of halo it also seems unfair to whoever is being charged.

Now for the additions I do like.
Thruster, I feel as though this could make the game more fair and intense, as long as you cant thrust too far or too many times in a short period of time. I also like clamber because that doesn’t really change the gameplay, it only helps getting around the map. Remember all those times you jumped of a ledge too early and didn’t make the jump or fell off of gaurdian and other floating maps resulting in a lost point for you and your team. Well, clamber simply helps you and correct those awful accidents and mistakes. I also really am starting to like the idea of smart scope… Before I get started on this ability let me state one thing… IT IS NOT ADS!!! YOU STILL CLICK THE RIGHT STICK TO ZOOM AND CLICK AGAIN TO ZOOM OUT… That being said, smart scope really isnt much of an ability. It’s simply a new, cleaner, more modern, more logical version of what you had on weapons like the DMR, BR, Sniper Rifle, Halo CE magnum, rockets etc. But now it’s available for more weapons. Pretty neat huh? Plus the animation is very slick and perty too.

So yeah that’s all. Halo 5 will most likely be the classic equal starts, fair gameplay that all longtime Halo fans fell in love with, but now there’s a few more abilities that increase intensity and make sense because after all, Spartans ARE Super-Soldiers. And obviously some of those new abilities are dumb and should be removed, but some of then could make great additions. Anyways, the series has to advance some way, plus I bet you they will have a classic playlist that gets rid of all these abilities and takes it back to halo 2 gameplay. But if not, don’t forget about the MCC, this game will last me years haha. Thanks for reading. Let me know what you guys think.

That’s how it’s always been. Have you forgotten?

You are wrong, skip to the 5 minute mark or just watch the entire video, its pretty interesting. How to save Halo 5, and what went wrong in Halo 4. (Part 1) - YouTube

The health hasn’t been changed at all from the gameplay i’ve seen. And charge seems fine since you have to sprint for quite a bit to do so and if you miss you are extremely exposed for a good 2 seconds or so.

Looks pretty amazing so far in my opinion.

Yeah I think you may be right. the gameplay I saw may have been a new gametype, which is very paintball-ish and has significantly lower health. And yeah I didn’t know that, i also love how shields don’t regen while sprinting, which makes charge even more balanced.

I’m not upset by “Smart Scope”, but I feel I need to correct something. You don’t use the right stick (at least, not by default; not sure about control options to change it). Instead, you hold down left trigger to initiate Smart Scope, and release to stop it. Honestly, it’s the only thing with Smart Scope I have an issue with, because it replaces the default grenade button position.

Looks like some good, some bad to me. The charge, smash, sprint, etc just seem off to me in a Halo game.

That is gameplay of breakout. A non respawn round based game type. I’m unaware if health is changed there.

From what I’ve seen, my only complaints are the visible scope frame when zoomed in and the weird looking ACOG(?)-like scope on the BR. What I’ve always liked about Halo is the ability to zoom with the scope and see the entire image with no scope obstruction, as if the scope telemetry was being transmitted to the visor in the Spartan helmet (which fits with Halo lore). I have been reluctant to equate previous gameplay changes with Call of Duty gameplay, but the visible scope frame smacks of CoD and takes away from the “true” Halo feel. It isn’t game-breaking, really, but it’s a bit of a bother to my nerdy, -Yoink!--retentive psyche. Some of the other changes, like disabling shield recharge during sprint, are as welcome as when they jettisoned that cursed armor lock.

Wow that actually changes my opinion of it, it really wont feel like halo if you zoom like in you do in CoD. That pisses me off, but like you said I’m sure you can change it.

Super exited for that gamemode, But I do think ground pound either needs to go or be adjusted.
