Its all good no worries! But yeah like I had said in my og post I had been asking/researching everything and everywhere for the past several months on whether or not there would be a legit one like past halo games and like I replied to the other guy as soon as I seen halo collector post it, without even thinking I just went in to get it lol. And now I’m conflicted seeing what everyone is saying I’ll have to think about it for a little while haha and also like I said to another person on here it is pretty annoying how 343 is handling this wish they would say something as simple as “this isn’t official” especially for other fans out there that will probably buy it at ridiculous scalper prices

I’m not thrilled with how MS and 343 have been handling any of the promotional content. I was lucky enough to land the Halo Series X. However, with the current chip shortage affecting GPUs and consoles, it was in bad taste to release something they knew would only be available in very limited quantities. Same for the Infinite GPU, controller, collector’s edition, and all the time-sensitive and region-locked promotions.

Completely agree with everything you’ve just said. I was so salty about the console I wanted one so bad. Even if I had been one of the lucky ones to secure it, I probably still wouldn’t have cause I had gotten my series x like a month prior.

Not really. Walmart is a big physical market and they make money from each unit sold.
People likely bought this despite having gamepass.
It also increases sales numbers for investors meetings.
They also increase the chances of wallmart ordering more physical versions and halo brand merch, a win for ms.
It they don’t have anything to sell us at that rrp they only lose out by discouraging Walmart.
Further they never made any announcements to suggest it was official that was purely people not doing their due diligence as consumers so back lash will be minimal.
Xbox very clearly and concisely reveled the steel book edition, elite controller and console at the summer games show.
Ultimately halo is a free to play/sub game so this just nets them additional hits sold.
They never said anything about a legendary edition so if people bought this get mad its entirely on them and not on ms.
It also created a buzz on social media because it “sold out” likely spurring people to buy merch such as the lamp in response or even just the steel book edition.
It was free advertising for a different section of the market than the one they are focused on.
Revenue gained for zero investment is a very good business model for them.
They don’t want to sell us a legendary statue that costs them especially in the current climate were production is still behind so this way they got to focus entirely on what they are selling, a subscription service in gamepass and get the benefits of a “collectors” edition.
Seems pretty cut and dry to me unless I’m missing a major part of the puzzle.
We will find out at the xbox anniversary event i guess but even then a legendary edition reveal is just another likely hood for over zealous fans to double dip on a product included in gamepass.

I didn’t do anything special, I just happened to be scrolling through Twitter right when I seen (halo collector) post about it and just clicked on the link and bought it.
That sorta luck is unheard of, could almost call you John-117 picking it up like that.

I didn’t know there was an edition for it. No worries though. Good for you for finding one. Normally they are thought to come by in previous launches with little commitment in trying to find one.
I always found them great. Last one was from Reach and it did not disappoint at all.
I dunno its how I got my ps5 and elden ring collectors edition.
Twitter is a great way to get limited stock stuff if you follow the right people
Finally there has been confirmation that there is no official collectors/legendary edition of infinite. While this does make me sad not in regards to this particular one I’ve talked about from Walmart. But just the fact that there is simply no official one from 343/Microsoft I don’t get why there isn’t, there is so much hype behind this game and the fans want it. Just extremely disappointed in this.
It’s unfortunate, but I’d rather be able to buy everything separately.
