Thoughts on banshee?

In the thread about warthogs, I kept seeing people complaining about the banshee being underpowered. I was wondering if anyone else held this viewpoint because I personally like the way the banshee is in Halo 4. I mean they get swatted pretty quickly by small arms fire but this jsut encourages the pilot to use hit and run tactics, (how the banshee was intended to be flown IMO). My only qualm about it would be that they seem to get destroyed by Splazers that missed by a good 5-10 feet.

Just wondering how the halo community feels about this. Full disclosure, I am sort of a banshee conniseur myself and they have been my favorite vehicle since halo 1.

PS Warthog definately needs some sorta defense against plasma/emp. They used to be a great, iconic vehicle but in the age of loadouts and personal ordinance they withered into double kills on wheels.

The banshee reminds of the cea version more than the reach version. Its not very nimble, the barrel rolls are too slow and cant be performed while boosting. The flip is way to pronounced and the camera gets wonky everytime. The locked on plasma burst isnt nearly as effective, and the vehicle as a whole seems like its made of glass.

The plasma turrets are highly underrated. All I ever see is people use the fuel rod bomb when the plasma turrets are more forgiving, better against multiple targets and do massive damage against infantry.

The Banshee has balanced health against small arms fire. But it is horribly underpowered when someone shoots it with a Sniper or Turret, both of which are very common.

Bombing warthogs doesn’t seem to do -Yoink-, it doesn’t even seem to do damage to the occupants inside the warthog. That definitely needs some fixing. If a warthog gunner can shoot me down in a fraction of a second, I should at least be able to do the same.

I have friends that are great with the banshee, in Halo4 I seem to suck with it. I can’t control it like I could in previous games. I think making it 2x more durable with help greatly because I have to fly high into the air to avoid being raped out the sky, or give it a damge boost as compensation.

Ahh the Banshee a purple match box with wings that could be destroyed by grunts armed with nerf guns. I thinks it needs an armor buff badly but I think it would be a lot better if players didn’t spawn with pp and plasma nades. I used to get invincibles no sweat with this thing in reach but now I can barley pull of a riot.

I think the Banshee is mostly okay now.
Maybe it could use a slight boost to it’s armor and Plasma Cannon damage.
But nothing too much, I still get flashbacks from the Reach Banshee.

Thats interesting because my experience with warthogs has been the complete opposite, usually I can hit the hog with one bomb then get above the guns sight radius and from there its a double kill waiting to happen.

I’ve even found that banshee bombs can be an effective way of destroying mechs if you can hit them once, fly by without getting chewed up by the machine gun, pop a U turn, then blast it again

My god reach banshees were amazing!!! I’ve had some EPIC banshee runs in that game. In hindsight I think they were way overpowered it’s funny how if the stuff that you like to use is OP you aren’t really bothered by it as much lol.

I’m sure a ford focus has more armor than the banshee.

It’s too weak. The light armour worked okay in Reach because it could absolutely dominate if a player abused the hell out of the barrel rolls. In this game, the rolls are much, much slower, making it much easier to hit, and shoot down.

The weapons work fine, however; the turrets are severely underrated, capable of shredding infantry, and the bomb isn’t too powerful like it was in Reach.

So, just like every other vehicle, the Banshee needs a health boost, so it can shrug off small arms fire.

For future games, I’d like the old model to return as well. The model introduced in Reach looks like crap, in my opinion.

Imo the banshee itself is fine, but its pretty weak in infinity gametypes because of abundance of the anti-vehicle weapons. If you fly very high you get wrecked by snipers/lasers/railguns or even starting rifles and when you fly lower you get plasma pistoled and plasma naded very quickly.

Reach Banshee- Overpowered

Halo 4 Banshee- Balanced.

I’m an expert pilot and I have to say that the h4 banshee is just weak. The tricks are too slow, for some odd reason it does this dip when ever you do a flip, the bombs don’t feel natural, the plasma cannons shoot blueberries, and the armor is made out of purple butter. One of my only pros for it is it’s appearance.

The Banshee is horrible in this game.

The barrel roll is practically useless and looks rather unrealistic.

The turning and banking is not consistent at all. Sometimes it will turn correctly, and other times it will lock up and turn like a snail.

The Maneuvers are unintuitive as well. When you try to turn right or left after a barrel roll or flip, it will actually make you turn the opposite direction half of the time.

I honestly think the controls are glitched or poorly programmed for the banshee.

In terms of firepower, it is perfect.

In terms of durability, the over-abundance of DMR and Sniper firepower makes it a paper tiger.

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.
The Reach Banshee was able to lock onto vehicles and maneuvered much more quickly and easily.
It could also take more damage.

If you’re experienced enough, you can use that dip to splatter like a monster.
But if you don’t know exactly the height you need to be at, you’ll crash and explode.

Also, a funny thing I like to do is boost into a lightweight ground vehicle and backflip.
It sends them flying and is very funny!

Agreed. The Sniper Rifle is bad enough.

I dont like using it since it feels so…Weird.
