Thoughts on Action Sack...

Taking some time away from getting a triple kill with an Incineration Cannon in Fiesta…I’m here to right a review on the playlist. There’s a tl;dr at the end of this, but this review is relatively short.

  • Rockets and Rails: The very first game type I have played on Halo 4’s Action Sack. Action Sack is just randomness exploding across the map, and boy, does this game type embody that! I played a game on Complex, and the most common form of an attack I saw was an air strike. It’s a simple maneuver; jump off an elevated area, jetpack as high as you can, then rocket at unsuspecting guests on the battlefield. Before you go and say that this feels like a HellStorm Missile from Black Ops 2, let me remind you that a player is visible when he/she attempts this maneuver. You have a rail gun, they’ve just painted a target of themselves, don’t complain, ACT. I personally had a lot of fun dodging rockets and blasting people from long distances with my trusty rail gun!

  • Binary Slayer: Standing second to the classic Team Fiesta from Halo 3 in my opinion, Binary Slayer is the greatest change to the Halo franchise. It takes a new weapon, an Armour ability, no reason to sprint, and the sliceing 'n dicing energy sword, and meshes them into one epic gametype. You obviously don’t want to keep thrusting across an arena map, so carry an energy sword handy. Across BTB maps, the composing spreads like an infection. You’ll hardly need to use an energy sword; just for the occasional CQC opportunities.

  • Team Fiesta: The classic game type makes a glorious comeback. It kills the competition(COMEBACK KILL). The entire Halo sandbox is put to use in a great way. Even though we used to spawn with power weapons, the ordinance oppurtunity lets us drop ordinance anytime(you’ll probably just drop it at the start of the game). There’s not much to say about this. Expect the old fun from Halo 3, but with a Halo 4 twist(don’t worry, it’s not ruined)!

tl;dr Team Action Sack is the most chaotic playlist in Halo 4. Have fun with the power weapons at your finger tips, and don’t be stressed over skill, because you won’t need it here. Try not to rage quit either, just have a blast! Bravo 343, for giving us great Action Sack. Keep up the work you did here and try to add more game types, and you might get on par with Halo 3’s Action Sack! 4.5 Stars in my opinion.

Lightning CTF is inexplicably not there, and that was what I was most looking forward to.

Binary Slayer and Rockets and Rails are good fits, and they’re pretty fun to play. But Fiesta is not Fiesta.

Have more than 3 gametypes and have them done very well and then we can talk about this being an awesome Action Sack.

Fiesta is both good and bad-Good that we have a choice of weapon, bad that we have to wait for dispatch, putting us at risk.

Binary slayer is perfect, no problems there. 100% perfect.

LR CTF is missing. :confused:

havent played it yet but kinda sucks that you get railgun kills so easily. I worked hard on maxing that commendation…

Fiesta isn’t fiesta at all. It’s ordinance with about 7-8 weapons. You shouldn’t be able to pick up other peoples weapons too. nor should you get infinite ammo.

They need to fix fiesta and add more gametypes.

Fiesta sucks,it’s Team Ordinance,not team fiesta.I don’t see a loadout with only random weapons.

For starters, those complaining about lightning CTF not being there, Bravo said that not all the games they were working on will be in the initial release of action sack. give them some time and it should end up there.

Binary slayer is awesome, could stand to have a higher kills to win. game seems to short. Rockets is fun, but nobody ever chooses it, at least for me. Fiesta needs a lot of work. I was looking forward to fiesta, not Incineration Cannon, Fuel Rod, Rockets, and Binary Rifles Slayer. Could stand to have a few more maps, preferably medium sized ones like complex. Hell, Exile (not a big fan of but better than abondon) would be alright by this point.

Otherwise, action sack is alright. Will like it more when they fix some of the bugs and add more gametypes in the future. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Take out the sword from binary slayer and it would work, theres already plenty of sword action in other playlists.

I love this playlist, loads of fun! And it’s good for weapon commendations too. Too bad I have all prometheans mastered and only SpLaser to go for the unsc guns (47 kills to unlock Breach!)… I wonder why we can’t get beam rifles in Fiesta

You cannot get the following in Fiesta: Saw, Concussion Rifle, Shotgun (or atleast I haven’t seen one), Needler, Beam Rifle, Sticky Detonator and Beam Rifle… So much for “every weapon in the Halo 4 sandbox”…

Fiesta is just "here’s an explosive weapon (if your lucky) now I hope you bought your jetpack…
