Basically action sack and grifball will be made into rotational playlists. This is a change that might be good for the game, but I really don’t know. I really think we should just have more permanent social playlists to play in general anyway, so.
It makes sense for Grifball since it’s been on the bottom of the population list for several months. I don’t really mind about Action Sack, but it should also have new gametypes with it.
i really like grifball. its a social playlist. its meant to be fun not competitive. i think it should remain a permanent playlist.
I never play griffball so don’t care. If action sack were better an I played it more I would be upset. But there were more games I didn’t like than I liked so I hardly played it.
If I would have gotten Husky Raid more often, I would have been more sad to see Action Sack go, but since maybe out of the last 50 Action Sack games I’ve played, I may have been lucky to see Husky Raid 5 times. I should find out, though there’s no way quick way to. And not sad in the slightest to see Grifball make an exit.
I’m a bit bummed that Action Sack will be taken out for a bit, though the gamemodes were admittedly repetitive. It better receive a refresh should it return.
I would’ve preferred a refresh for action sack and some rule changes for grifball, but we’ll have to see how things go. Being only up for a week or so every couple of months may end up being beneficial and make people appreciate the playlists more.
My absolute favorite playlist is Action Sack so I hate it being a rotational playlist. As I’ve basically played it every day I won’t log on on H5 that often when it’s not featured.
It’s somewhat annoying to REMOVE content from the game rather than refresh the game with new maps and game modes. Especially since Action Sack and Firefight is all I play. While it’s not a deal breaker, it’s not exactly a good sign.
Just let Action Sack be a collection of popular custom game modes and maps so it’s always fresh. Crazy and unique game modes that didn’t belong anywhere else was all Action Sack was in Halo 3 and Reach. Removing the playlist entirely just removes incentive to play Halo 5 and reduces the amount of good content for some players.
Grifball makes sense as a rotational imo, having such a messy gametype in core matchmaking is a weird choice. But I’m gonna miss action sack tbh, it’s fun to jump on that every once in a while and it sucks knowing how many players play nothing but action sack will be leaving now.
I honestly think it’s a good idea for both playlists. Both just aren’t popular enough to keep permanent. In my opinion, I also think both work better as a rotational playlists anyways. Especially since there’s the customs browser now where you can almost always find a game or two of the games in action sack and even Grifball. If not, start one and people will join.
They’re not really “Halo” anyways, they’re fun, silly mini games almost, like castle wars too. Halos main playlists should be things that play like Halo if you know what I mean. Castle wars is a other great example of a fun silly gametype. It’s fun to play for a few games or maybe even days… But if there was say a permanent castle wars playlist, it would have terrible population after a few months just like these two playlists. If a game type becomes popular enough (like SWAT did for example) then sure, try making it permanent and see what happens.
I think making these types of game types rotational, makes them feel more special too. People appreciate them more and they like to have a little diversion every now and then from things like Team Slayer, BTB, etc. So yes, keep these kinds of playlists rotational.
I think they should keep action sack but a lot of these rotational playlists should be added to it, the ones that are liked and not too competitive at least.
I think Griffball, Action sack should be separate. Griffball felt nice to get into a game to just destroy teams without worrying too much about flinch while action sack being separate meant I could try game types that I would have never normally tried myself since I rarely go near custom games. Plus someone should really test the playlist better since there were clearly game types in that playlist that felt more like team slayer instead of action sack.
I rarely played action sack and I never played Griffball so I’m not upset, but I have a few friends who didn’t play anything other than action sack. I imagine they will move to other games until it returns
I disagree with making action sack rotational. If 343 had kept refreshing the gametypes available for it then it probably would still have a decent population.
As a mainly social gamer these days, Action Sack and Grifball are my go to for de-stressing, relaxing, and all around fun. I would much rather prefer both game types as permanent playlists. Another thing I would like see is voting on game types as seen in previous Halo games. This would put an end to the replay of the same Action Sack gametype a thousand times over and open up the possibility for newer gametypes. But I doubt 343 will listen to this complaint. It is what it is. I’ll be checking for when they’re back, and hopefully soon.
Im really bummed that grifball is rotational because that was the only game that I pretty much played and I’m good at. I could just relax and have fun smashing my foes with my hammer or slicing them from behind with my sword. And as a social player (competitive grifball player) that was my thing. Action sack however was a hit and miss, like what an earth is skeeball? You get like nothing for it. If they sort the betrayal out on grifball I could see it more as more people come and play it. I guess I’d be playing more warzone now
or super fiesta.
Id really like to get notified when grifball is back on so I don’t miss it knowing what I’m like. Like a ping on my phone.

You nailed it. I feel the throwback playlists should also appear more frequent as well. I also think grifball should replace skeeball, golf, & prophunt in action sack. But thats just me. @Comedic Hermit do you know if there is an updated schedule for the rotational playlists like there was when they 1st got introduced?
Thanks
I have not played halo after they removed it I
came back when they added back this weekend . played several hundred games since it’s been back. Griffball castle wars and mongoose sum are the only no Shootie halo game types. Keep griffball but make different styles of griffball every few weeks. Like free for all griffball 8 players 1 goal 1 2 or 3 balls no score limit. That is chaos. Super griff ball. Longer wider vorpal talon and grinder. Using same larger maps 6 man griff . And 4 teams of 3 griffball And many other variants that have been made in custom games. And of corse we are not a big group after they changed the social match making changes made it so hard for regular players could never get a match. This caused us stop playing population dropped them 343 Microsoft says see no one plays griffball and removed it. And I was able to get quick match starts even at 430 am central time. On a wensday morning after all schools have restarted. So lots playing
go to halo track look at leader boards. For kills damage groundpound kills deaths games played xp earned. And others we will hold a larger % of these records then the % of players we represent. So keep griff ball around
Action sack and grif are my two favorite game modes in h5. Having them rotate in every once in awhile is not enough for me. At least have one of them perm.
