THOUGHTS FOR IMPROVEMENT, A CAREER HALO PLAYER.

This is in no way, shape or form; a rant. I am not complaining, I am critiquing.

Who am I?
A seasoned player of shooters with an ear to the ground on the industry and a Halo player and fan, both in terms of mechanics and fiction.

I have had Halo as a major addition to my life since the age of 6.
The first game’s release.

I have a lot of love here and am eerily anticipating the release of Halo 5 : Guardians.

I will update as my progression continues but this is my response and suggestion thus far:
(It is worth noting that I will focus on mechanics more than preference, but there are some aesthetic references herein)

PLAYER

  • Allow CUSTOM MAPPING to controllerDEFAULT LAYOUT
  • Bind POUND to LB+RB- B to CROUCH- THRUSTER PACK to a DOUBLE TAP DIRECTIONAL of the LEFT THUMBSTICKGAMEPLAY
  • Increase speed of SPRINT- THRUSTER PACK should be pinpoint and not falter due to in game GRAVITY- Bind CALL OUT to UP and DOWN D-PAD- Custom CALL OUT from SELECTION of VOICE TALENT (3 FEMALE 3 MALE)UI- Visual representation of RANK in SPARTAN HUB- Visual representation of RANK PROGRESSION in SPARTAN HUB- SPARTAN HUB color scheme should hold deeper contrasts- COLOR BLIND settings for UI and IN-GAME COLOR SCHEMEAESTHETIC
  • End match with something more self-serious; MAP DERES into TRENCH STYLE base, FORGE base, a simple LIGHTS GOING OUT on COURT- A SELECTION of ENDGAME TAUNTS (Animated Stance)- MATCHMAKING screen to INFINITY LOCKER ROOM- PLAYER CARD reading simply pans around LOCKER ROOM from PLAYER to PLAYER- Customizable NO-HELMET SPARTAN- RPG ELEMENTS for CHARACTER CREATION (*If we’re going to give MC a face, give us a face too)*This is what I have for now. Please discuss below, feel free to critique. Will make additions as necessary.

Yes, I don’t mind the in game automatic chatter like some people do, it adds character in my opinion but having something specific or personalizing would be great.

Yes to this. but one step further. customizable button layout. Don’t like that button of action here move it to where it would make sense for you. (I play with the H4 layout & ground pound is B for me. to pull if off I have to Claw it)

As for the spartan chatter, Yess to this as well. some slight improvements, along with the controlled call outs maintain the chatter as is for those non-team players so that ones that listen to it can still get feedback. Also have it be directional oriented radio for distanced players. I want to hear them to the left or right of me with any info thats helpful. might be a bit much but knowledge is power. If there’s a sniper in the rocks that i don’t know of tell me so I can advance accordingly.

No worries.

Since we’re rearranging the button layout to adjust for GROUND POUND and CROUCH

Make THRUSTER PACK apply to the stick your’e already using to move the player character and adjust accordingly with various control schemes but as some video games do with DASH, flicking or double tapping the LEFT THUMBSTICK any direction will DASH you that direction.

Good thoughts.

Don’t like the thrusters to thumbstick idea, advanced warfare did it and it isn’t nearly responsive or accurate enough. Thrusters need their own button in my opinion but custom mapping would solve that any way.

So then we all agree on custom mapping. I’ll add it to this list.
