What are your guy’s thoughts and opinions of Halo 5 so far and will you buy it at release or wait?
Buying at release. Mainly for the Campaign. I REALLY want to play that Campaign.
Already pre ordered several different copies. I’m a collector anyways. So will be playing it hopefully on release if I’m not doing anything with government schools/training. Like everything so far, I’m more excited about campaign then anything.
Definitely not pre-ordering after the MCC disaster and other games coughdestinycough not living up to my expectations or what they were advertised as. Probably won’t buy Day 1 either; I’ll wait til the reviews come in before I get into it. Even then, I don’t really have a super high opinion of the game, at least in terms of multiplayer. Campaign is really the big factor for me because Halo 4 shows 343 can tell a story. I just hope they don’t hamfist people you have no knowledge about like the Didact and expect people to think he’s very important. You shouldn’t need to read a book to understand a character in the games; it should be supplementary.
Not pre-ordering, no matter what they offer. Besides the fact that encourages bad practices, the launch of MCC has me very wary. Even the H5 beta, in a tightly controlled setting, had matchmaking problems. I’ll wait a few days to see what players (not reviewers with early access, but people who buy on release day) actual interpretation of it is before I buy. I want to make sure the game actually works. And I play Halo mostly for the campaign.
Sad that this is what it has come to.

Sad what AAA in general during 2014 is what its come to.
Going to skip it unless E3 convinces me to do otherwise.
Lack of Elites, Vehicles and Big Team Battle / Misc game modes are what’s keeping me wary.
Halo is xbox for me and I fortunately resisted Microsoft’s nostalgia lure with the Halo 2 Anniversary to get an Xbone.
Halo 5 better justify me buying a television-bound computer that is inferior to any modern machine in its price-range.
Put bluntly: consoles are becoming less and less justifiable, and I’d need to be seriously impressed by Halo 5 to consider buying it. I am not seriously impressed.
- £40 for the game; reasonable if the campaign is good- A ridiculous ~£300 for an underpowered console to run it on; why can’t I use my PC?- Monthly fee to use online features (but you still don’t get the option of private servers)- Butchered base mechanics; 343 are deluded if they think Halo 5 is going back to Arena gameplay roots
Unless the campaign is a godly mixture of Asimov and Lovecraft, I’m not even considering it.
