Thoughts about halo 4 multiplayer and firefight [maps not gameplay]]

Multiplayer

  • Maps need to be more versatile than they were in reach H2 and H3 every map worked for just about every gametype reach seems like some maps were designed solely for one gametype e.g. boneyard and spire
    and other maps just don’t flow as they should they just stagnate and only part of the map is used because of there dominating intergration into campaign e.g. swordbase in most slayer gametypes only objectives cause other parts of the map barringthe top to be a main battle ground.
    -Also 343 has the benefit of a huge assortment of previous maps to look at and see if they can make a reiteration on or even blend maps or just bring them back to halo as is, or make new maps for the new trilogy and invest into the new designs and structure of this trilogy.
    If you include PC and all DLC but discount reiterations of maps that is a total of 72 maps available to 343 to look at so they aren’t short of ideas, that means no campaign maps…(leaves sense of impending doom)

—OVERALL—
More versatile maps, Aesthetics (I like shiny :}) and enough to make each playlist from launch new and exciting and to stop it from stagnating. As well as a more streamlined way to introduce community maps, like community playlists/ a forgetacular contest [and yes i’m from the UK but i still want my map to be tried out and not stopped because the lawyers have a problem with a prize offered and me being in the UK somehow making it difficult? just having my map at least tested and maybe put in is prize enough…and even if i did win what is difficult about shipping said prize to me?]{sorry little rant and sorry bungie you’ve been great but that rule was just ridiculous or should i say lawyers are… I’ll wait to be sued}.

Firefight
The question is Reach or ODST? Personally ODST.

  • With ODST you were promoted to explore with power weapons scattered over the map for you to find like breakpoint on reach but not that close to the base!!! and a lot more spread out
  • More vehicle <3 Unearthed and Lost platoon(perfect for exploring on foot as well)
  • More survival than a prolonged brutal murder by the covenant. ODST on heroic had its hard parts with drones and black eye (won’t the pain ever stop!) to Boss waves that were like a BOSS, instead of reach where everything was a boss wave even the dropships with concussion cannon (please no more 343 just plain plasma from now on its just too much!) then if things weren’t bad enough when a drop pod of ultra appears you can almost hear the metaphorical can of covenant whoopa** being opened as you cry and hold onto your trusty shotgun and just pray.
  • The lack of strength behind the player was probably why people didn’t want to play firefight classic as you would lose all lives in less than 2-3 minutes and could probably earn more credits in a custom game/arcade with unlimited lives and generally being over the top with POWER!!!..weapons all the way instead of being special pick ups as they are needed to even match the base infantry strength.

—OVERALL—
More explore, more vehicles, less death, fewer power weaponed AI (fear the heretic heavy and heretic sniper rounds :$)[leave it for the BOSS waves surely that makes sense]. And pinned or forced in base area maps (waterfront is a perfect example you are stuck defending the center circle of the map and are attacked from literally every direction) maybe some more objective based firefight gametypes e.g. crazy king (probably not head hunter that hurts my head thinking about it) and if the generator defense was a MM gametype instead of FF (like in Reach beta) might more successful. And preferably a more even firefight versus as it was a good idea but was never implemented right.

P.S. Here are a few of my favourite maps over the series and would like to see one of two come back to matchmaking as some were underated and all were just plain fun :slight_smile:
