I’ve had this debate with friends irl and online about how the sidekick as a secondary to the Br would impact gameplay, and I get a lot of different responses about it. Many feel that the sidekick would wind up being used as the primary weapon on most 4v4 maps given its extremely easy spammable kill potential and fast ttk. Others think it would be used as it seemed intended to be used and become a quick and easy swap weapon for cleanups rather than reloading. I’m personally not a fan of how easy it is to get a spam kill with the sidekick but until we have games where we can see how it will be in practice then I don’t know how it will actually play out.
Does anyone have any opinions on this concept or should the sidekick remain a map pickup in Br starts or what? Would people prefer the AR as a secondary in BR starts? Would that cause the same or similar problems or would it create brand new problems? All relevant questions to discuss in my opinion.

Personally, I’d rather a BR than a sidekick. The sidekick theoritically kill very fast, but with how many fewer shots the BR takes I have a much easier time. I don’t know how common my experience is, but I definitely wouldn’t use the sidekick as a primary if I had the BR.
I’m OK with just br starts. If you have a close range backup weapon, I feel like there would be a lot of frustration, essentially getting killed for having the wrong weapon out.
This is coming from a casual player though.
I’ve been playing social because I like the ar starts personally and think the br being a power weapon is a more fun/interesting dynamic.
I get it ain’t for everyone but I’m digging the ar being an easy to use all rounder and other weapons having clear benefits and detractors from the ar where the br is better than most things in mid to long and can hold its own to the ar up close with enough moving around.
One thing I can say, is that it’s satisfying outshooting an AR at close range with the br or commando. Feels like you really have to work for it, now that the AR is good.

This is true. I think that’s why I like the BR in the first place, it’s always felt like a weapon that rewards you learning it’s intricacies more than others

It certainly does. I’ve seen the arguments for switching up weapon starts in ranked, and while they do have some merit, I don’t see anything inherently wrong with the way it is now.
My only complaint is that some of the weapons s on the map don’t seem worth picking up as a secondary.

I agree. I mean if given the choice between a ravager Or needler and no secondary, I often just choose to ignore it. It’s better imo to be able to instantly pick up something better later without having to swap from the BR etc. The weapon balancing is imperfect right now for sure
